S1 vs S2
I never got a chance to see season 1. But my sister told me it was an anthology and to start season 2 which I caught up on demand. I find the story quite interesting. Was the first season as well done?

shareSeason 2 is far superior to season 1. I kept watching season 1 to think it would arrive but it never did. Season 2 is fantastic from the storyline to the superb acting from EVERYONE.
shareI think season 1 was exceptional, I loved it. It was very hard to watch, it was heartbreaking, real and so full of truth, in my opinion.
The second season does feel even better to me, but it might also be because I'm gay and I feel a lot of what the characters feel and go through close to me. So I don't know. I advise you to check out season 1. Its central topic is racial prejudice and injustice with a touch on family issues, self-acceptance, PTSD, getting second chances, being falsely accused, being religious. The performances were amazing and to me, it was the best new show of 2015. So yeah, I didn't tune in for the new season for the gay stuff, especially since the promos didn't really talk about that - clever, I have to say - and all I knew was that it would be about male rape and school bullying. Had the first season not been as fantastic as it was, I don't think I would have cared for the second one.

So far S2 is better. I could only get through half way of S1 - so boring.
Silence is Golden and duct tape is Silver
Season 2 is BETTER and honestly the best show of the year. So sad it is not getting the attention.
shareWow, I'm really surprised that so many people are liking season two so much better than season one. I just am kind of feeling like we're halfway through and unless a new storyline or twist pops up there is much less to it than last season. I'm still enjoying the show, but definitely feeling like unless you are drawing a personal connection to what the characters are going through, it just doesn't have the same intensity as season one.
I didn't watch Season 1 but now I can't stay away from watching episode of Season 2! I'm sure next week's episode will be very intense.
Late posting this, but I'm surprised, too. I think Season 1 was actually much better, and I actually liked Season 2. Season 1 just had a rawness and intensity and realism about it. Season 2 at times felt like it was trying a bit too hard to be real.
shareI liked Season 1 but I vote with those who think this Season is superior
shareThe first season is amazing. No need to compare, because they're both great.
shareIn my opinion, Season 1 was superb and was better than Season 2, although Season 2 was very good. I just think the acting in Season 1 was more uniformly excellent. Timothy Hutton and Felicity Huffman were nominated and should have won Emmys. Regina King did win. And there were characters like Hector, Carter, Aubrey, and Alonzo that were standouts as well.
While Hutton, Huffman, King, and Lili Taylor (who had a smaller role in Season 1) were all excellent in Season 2, my main issue with Season 2 was with some of the younger actors, especially the ones playing Taylor, Kevin and the Coach's daughter. They were very green and it was noticeable, so it took me out of the story a bit.
I liked s01 but I can't even remember what it was about. I think s02 is more focused.
