YES! Extremely annoying. When I watched it on broadcast TV, the screen went BLACK (and the sound cut out completely) each time there was a swear. I honestly think it is time Adults were treated like Grown-Ups. If a show is on after 10, and the swearing isn't gratuitous and seems natural and not forced, let the dialog be realistic! If a nine year old is sneaking a watch of American Crime in his room when you think he's asleep, your problems are bigger than him hearing a curse on TV at ten PM.
My thoughts were that there's a DVD in the future, where the cursing will be included as filmed, before the black-cuts were added. Those black-cuts are just place holders, and will be much easier to change back, than to have just cut them out, or replaced them with "darn" and "crap", only to have to go and put 'em back. The way it is now, it's more like they're covered up, rather than cut out. Much cheaper labor-wise, probably.
Again, ABC: let characters who swear in intense moments do that organically, in TV Shows of movie quality, like American Crime is.
A good example of a show that shouldn't be on until 10pm, that I just watched tonight, is Blindside. IT IS ON AT 8PM !!! I like the show, watch regularly, but it is way too violent to be on in what used to be called Family Hour. There's no swearing, but the violence is extreme, and themes of Terorists, and sundry other unsavory topics (ritual child sexual abuse found its way into the plot line) simply shouldn't be viewed by kids!
I've only watched the show on Netflix where the cursing isn't bleed. In fact, I was wondering how they got away with this on network TV. Now I understand.
