Kinda glad this got cancelled.
This show had really told its story. How much more Henry drama was there to be mined in his past? They didn't make him old enough. He's not the Highlander. He doesn't have seasons worth of backstory. And what do you do next? More and more other Immortals running around? It would have become absurd.
It's a brilliant show. They balanced the procedural element with the ongoing drama, and tied them together, perfectly. There's no way that was gonna hold up moving forward. It's a shame cause the cast really jelled and found their rhythm and it was firing on all cylinders. But the premise had painted it into a corner. The boy/girl detective angle with romantic potential is absolutely top notch. Had this been a more traditional story, it would have had legs, with this cast. But the supernatural twist made it unmanageable.
The potential Holmes/Watson dynamic with Lucas they were developing was epic. I mean the show had huge potential. I'm just not sure it wouldn't have become very rote. Unless they had intention to evolve the show beyond its premise, which is super risky, they had nowhere to go.
Don't get me wrong. I would have been with this show for ten seasons. But I simply see no future for it where it didn't just become a paint by numbers procedural with less and less ongoing drama until it became something important only happens in the premieres and finales. And the rest was simply romantic banter.
This is a show... that should have been a book series. Not everything finds it true format.
