I hope someone picks this up!

They should only save Forever. All other nine shows are not worth saving.

reply

Constantine, Battle Creek, Forever, and possibly Selfie should be saved. I'll admit I put Selfie on the list because of Karen Gillan but the show was funny as hell to.

I can't believe they saved Degrassi...although I wonder how many of the original episodes they're going to have, since the Millennial version was a remake/continuation of the 1980s-early 90s Canadian series 'Degrassi Junior High' and 'Degrassi: High School years.' (Even the millennial version started all the way back in 2000, I think. Back when people who were born in 1987 or 88 (back when Degrassi Jr High aired) and are now 27 or 28 yrs old, & graduated high school in 2005 or 2006, were only in the 7th & 8th grade.)

It would be funny to see episodes that date from the latter 1980s to early 90s, let alone the 'current' version & their episodes from the early 2000s, although most likely they'll just have the brand new episodes and maybe a few seasons prior...but not the 15-30 yr old ones. lol

reply

Goes back even further than that! I used to watch "The Kids Of Degrassi Street" when I was a little kid in the early eighties. That was about a bunch of eleven - twelve year olds. "Degrassi Junior High" was a later continuation, although sadly didn't really have the same kids in it. Presumably because they were too old by then.

Seems an odd thing to rescue, but then school dramas are usually popular.

I hope someone picks up Forever and Constantine. Love both shows.

reply

Yes, I really enjoyed "Constantine" too. Seems less likely for a save than "Forever", though. The latter does have a pretty devoted fandom, but sadly poor "Constantine" seems rather unloved.

reply

Yeah, Constantine is rather unloved. It did a good job getting me interested in reading any comic books related to John Constantine.

reply

Agreed. Even though I stopped watching Constantine after the first 2 or 3 eps (I just didn't care for the lead character) it wasn't a badly made show or story, it just didn't click with me.

Of the list, Forever and Constantine could do with another chance of finding an audience and MAYBE Selfie, while it wasn't exactly a thought provoking show by any stretch it wasn't as terrible as most 30 minute comedy shows are, it's atleast (possibly slightly more) watchable than Netflix's own Kimmy Schmidt even if John Cho is a bit miscast as the super uptight character (not terrible but also not particularly convincing)

Send the petition. Hound the workers on netflix chat to send the word up the chain like I've been doing.

Twitter also.

Honestly, I did watch most of the shows on that list, however, Constantine and Forever are the ones I'm focused on and the most passionate about saving at the moment. I was devastated the most over those cancellations than the rest. I watched Degrassi once a bazillion years ago, so that wasn't a loss to me. I only watched the first episode of A to Z and I didn't like it. Being a Michigander, I was thrilled about Battle Creek, but after watching the first episode of that show I didn't like it. I only watched the first episode of Backstrom but I never got around to watching any more eps because I watch so many shows and movies I just can't keep up! haha All the other shows on that list I watched and I enjoyed them, but only Forever and Constantine were the ones that I was the most upset over when I heard about the cancellation.

Yes. This show were soo amazing. I don't get it why they're cancelling it. I didn't see any reason to canceled it. The plot is light, funny, heartwarming, the dialogues were smart and witty, stellar performances, etc. Netflix should have saved it!

Blame Canada.

Canada aired Forever on Monday night, one day earlier than USA. Based on the discussions in various Forever message boards on Tuesday morning and afternoon, a lot of Americans have seen it using Torrent. The demo rating could have had 10% or 20% higher if Canada and USA aired at the same time. That would help the show make the cut.

reply

I found it annoying that Canada got see Forever a day early. The main reason why is you could find spoilers on the message boards for the show.

I live in Canada and just want to point out that it is a two-edged sword. There are a number of shows that are aired in the US prior to airing in Canada. If fans are going to download a Torrent to view the show a day early they probably use Torrents for most of their viewing and wouldn't register on the ratings counters anyway.

The problem is NOT when it was aired, but that the show was NOT given sufficient advertising prior to, or during its run. We basically stumbled on the show (around Ep 3) while channel surfing and LIKED it for many of the reasons posted on this board - intricate background story, interesting episode themes, great actors (i.e. Judd Hirsch) and the ideal chemistry/ banter between the two leads, etc. I am amazed at how much some new shows airing this fall are advertised constantly - e.g. "Qunatico"; if "Forever" got 1/10th the promos that this and other shows are getting, Forever would have had a fighting chance to survive - a promo featuring Elana de la Garza would grab the attention of male viewers, and probably ditto for females seeing Gruffud emerging from the Hudson sans clothes?!

Another possibility regarding ratings - are the "numbers" obtained only in the USA or are "offshore" ratings collected (Canada and Europe)? If only from the USA then a larger, loyal audience is excluded.

reply

Only USA figures count, because of the commercial investment. Overseas viewers can count, but only later, if overseas viewing figures are proved high enough to warrant seeking overseas funding to make up any shortfall.

Thanks for the info. It seems to me that the complaints and outcry on this board regarding the cancellation may be that the "statistics" from the rating providers were woefully inaccurate - even though the numbers are USA only. Common sense (which isn't all that common) would suggest that the cancellation was based on flawed, or at least doubtful data, and warrants a second look? But I doubt that will happen.
