I've heard a lot of good word of mouth for this show but before I buy I want to make sure it doesn't leave me hanging.

Unfortunately it did end with a cliffhanger. Jo found evidence of Henry in WWII and we end up wondering if he's going to tell her the truth or make another excuse.

Just finished my rewatch. There's no way he actually tells her. Which is total BS. Abraham used his "stern words" which Henry always obeyed. Which implied directly the truth was about to spill. "Tell her." But as a seasoned red herring tv watcher, I know this was gonna be total nonsense. It's been leaked that if there was more show, his assistant buddy was gonna learn the secret, not the love squeeze, which you have to drag out for AT LEAST 5 seasons.

Yes and no. After the premise is established, our protagonist finally takes an active role in his future.
