Every show I watch is doomed.unbelievable. Am I cursed? Bloody hell.

Firefly, New Amsterdam, Community, arrested d, journeyman, life, the list literally goes on and on.

I'm starting to think there is something wrong with me. Do I have bad taste? Every time I stumble upon a show that is slightly off the beaten path and interesting, it is viciously and maliciously canceled by these God damn networks, like an ogre, lurking in the night , coldly hacking away at babies and puppies with an iron sicle.

I used to think that I was just a cool guy who wasn't a lemming, "I'm just different than the rest of the Schmoes who suck up reality TV and csi clones.", but no, is it possible that I like crap? How else can I explain it?

Jesus Christ.

Then please, please stay away from Lucifer as far as you can because I just love that show. 😉

Lucy survived.

I know! It's the best news this year!

And Amenadiel survived too. Double bonus! I was worried he'd die as some sort of penance, and I really love their interplay, so I'm glad we'll be getting more of both of them. And "Mum" sounds funky. :)

I find concussion quite invigorating.

It's a year since this post, but I have to respond!

I love Forever and several of the other shows you mentioned (Firefly, New Amsterdam, Journeyman etc.) and I also feel disgust and frustration at the decisions made by the networks to cancel these shows. And NO! we don't have poor taste. I don't know how old you are but in my case, I think my taste is partially a reflection of my age. I'm an older woman and I'm always looking for characters who are likeable and ethical like the three leads in Forever. This is bucking the trend. The shows supported by networks today are filled with immoral, unlikeable and frequently criminal leads. I sometimes wonder if these are a reflection of the character of the network "suits". It wouldn't surprise me.

So I feel sad and nostalgic for shows that reflect MY values! And I guess we'll never see them again.

Yeah I'm a guy and I'm like 29 so I doubt we're part of the same demographic. I don't care about virtually anything of those things that you mentioned, not to say it's a bad thing, but rather it's interesting and goes to show that good content and well crafted storytelling can transcend demographics such as age, gender, location and even alternate viewpoints.

Cheers.

I agree. I think when a group of people come together to create something they themselves love and are given free reign to make that happen, it will show in the finished result and the audience will see that as well. Unfortunately the bosses only care about ratings and viewing figures, so often the most subtle and thoughtfull shows are overlooked by both audience and bosses.

I think it came down to set pieces. A friend of mine worked on New Amsterdam, and I did some tech with the people who produced Second Chance over at Fox and I'm starting to see a pattern.

Historical set pieces are expensive as f••k and the networks hate them. It's not even the money necessarily, I think it's that they don't like having to morph around too much. A lot of these great shows had flashbacks or characters or SOME necessity for period sets, and the studio guys always get f••Jed up over it.

I think that all the posters in this thread are cursed.... with having good taste. Studio execs have little or no taste, and resent it in others. They will put up withit in a show as long as it makes money for them now - they have no interest in anything longer term.

The only thing that can help shows like this is to contact the advertisers, tell them that you like their involvement in the show.

I've watched or are familiar with all of the shows you've listed and I can say without a doubt that your taste is horrible. I'm actually impressed that you're so open to that idea.

It is just un-fü<£ing-believable how many times this has happened with these network shows

Network shows might give you a hint of why you have poor taste. There is nothing more tacky than network TV! Network tvshows have no end in sight - their vision consist of keep going until they've ruined any semblance of integrity and creativeness to the ground - which is a sign of bad quality shows.
