Matt's Mother, Mery Anne

Just curious what everyone thinks of Matt's mother, Mery Anne. I think her heart is in the right place and is really trying to make Alla feel like a member of the family. I found her talk to Alla very mother-like and felt she gave her some good advice and was very sincere. I did have to laugh when the owner of the venue asked Alla what kind of wedding she was looking at and Alla said "you should ask Mery Anne", or something to that effect. I am actually hoping this works out for her and that her and Max are happy.

I can't abide her. She showed her true colours in this ep. She's a meddler, a manipulator and has inserted herself between Matt and Alla. She's calling the shots. She is going to be the third person in that marriage.

And where is Matt the Wuss in all of this? I dislike him even more than his mom. He's contemptible. Instead of cleaving to his future wife, he let's Mommy (and family)run his life. We wonder why he's gone through 3 wives? Maybe we have a clue here. He didn't stand up for Alla with his family from the beginning and it's getting worse.

What about Alla's needs and dreams? She came across the world, left everything behind and HE can't even begin to be interested in any of that. He never cut the apron strings and he never cut the family cord. He wants coddling all the time. Big Baby. In my eyes he's not much of a man. I feel so badly for Alla.

I'm still trying to figure out how Matt got three women to marry him...

Lol ditto

Matt is a big mamas boy. He didn't have the balls to tell Alla they can't afford a beach wedding so his mama did the dirty work for him.

reply

I thought she was sort of okay until she joked about "throwing some sand" in the living room to make it seem like a beach. Really? Is Alla just a potted plant? come on

And I agree with the comment by someone else..I was thinking, wait why is the mom telling this to her and not Matt? huh

reply

Matt is not emotionally ready to be married. This is his 4th wedding, not everyone needs to come. His mom doing the dirty work for him shows
How weak he is.

She shoudk run, but she said it's always been her dream to come to america, so I think thsi wedding will go through and Matt will be devastated again

Matt is the kind of guy who says "nice guys finish last" with a sad face. That guy. And talks about how he has ben hurt. This is what happens ladies when you ask for a sensitive guy.....

I give this marriage until Alla gets her permanent citizenship which is a shame because I thinks she'd be the type to give it her all if she was marrying a man and not a little boy.

reply

I feel like if the marriage fails (which in all honesty it probably will) it'll be due to Matt's issues, not because of visa-related ones. I hope he gets the therapy he so desperately needs so he can work through his issues.

reply

I have to wonder if she caused Matt's previous marriages to fail. She is one of those people who wants things her way.

reply

What exactly is she doing?

Mery Anne has good intentions, I think, but she should butt out when it comes to the wedding planning (unless Alla asks for her help). How does Mery Anne know if Matt has the finances for a beach wedding? She said that family couldn't afford to go to Florida for a couple days. It's not that expensive! Alla already has a dress, so Matt doesn't have to worry about buying her one. I live near them and they can drive to Florida in 10 hours.

I think it's just a matter of time before Mery Anne begins pestering Matt and Alla for grandchildren.

reply

How many of their guests would fly/drive for 700-800 miles and pay for hotel just to attend a wedding?
Same thing with Matt and his family - to drive/fly that many family members and pay for hotel would cost a lot. How much is Alla contributing for the wedding? $0.

It's not Matt's first wedding, nor is it Alla's. If she really wants a beach wedding, it's not impossible. Since it's not their first wedding, just have it be a small affair with only a few family members. Judging from the hall rental they liked, it looks to be a somewhat large wedding. Add in hall rental, food, drinks, dj, etc and you're still looking at quite a cost!

Alla contributed a wedding dress. She has a young son to support. When most couples get married all the money is pooled together, not "my money" and "your money."

reply

Has anyone asked Matt what he wants? All I'm hearing "Alla wanted this or that ...".

And since they're not married yet, there is still "my money" and "your money".

The problem with destination weddings is not just the cost of the wedding (bringing the families down and hotel rooms etc.) but that you expect the guests to go to Florida, buy a plane ticket and hotel room, just for a wedding.

reply

Yes, and they usually have to take time off work. Not everyone wants to use their vacation time to go to someone's destination wedding. I always pass on those. I have my own places I want to travel to, and it is usually not a beach somewhere for someone's wedding.

Matt is an immature jerk. Future series, "The Six Wives Of Matt".
