Louie Anderson not just funny...he's downright BRILLIANT!
He's performance is so natural and believable that it's hard to believe he's only acting.
Definitely deserves some sort of award recognition for this.

agreed :) I think this episode stepped it up a notch
sharei'll pull this car over and smack you. How'd you like that for Easter Sunday?
shareHe's his own mother. You can tell that Louie Anderson is playing his own mother and he's also feeling his own shame he must have felt as a child. His eyes.. watch his eyes go to that one side when the character calls for the act of remembrance.. you can tell. And to think that only a few years ago Louie spent his time never leaving his house and ordering out . Sitting there waiting to die.
Yes, I don't know if you know his story or not, but he had a pretty dysfunctional upraising, and he's said in interviews that he's channeling his own mother.
Kudos to you if that was just a theory of yours!

Just ate all day and watched tv like Mrs Baskets with her giant bowl of whipped cream. He got extremely fat, got fatter and sadder until all he did was stay in his little Las Vegas home and eat and sit on the couch. He never dressed, never went out or had anyone in. He was sitting there thinking constantly about how to commit suicide even before his actual death that the doctor said would come if he didn't get some weight off. It was that extortion thing with the guy from Arizona who accused Louie of pedophilia. No one REALLY knows how long that went on or if there was any truth or anything . After something of that nature is out there.. well, it causes emotional troubles.

Louie was, and still is and will always be a Stand-up Comic. It's an impossibly scary and difficult job filled with fear unimaginable.
Louie began making fun of his weight when he first started out, and then brought his family members in on it.
He played his own mother and father and done voices of family members and neighbors. Home with holidays and distant family members and their reaction to his own dysfunctional family.. Even the distant ones were like that!
You have to have an actor living in you, and a really GOOD actor at that do it well, to pull all that off with any believability, and on top of that have the meticulous timing to make it all hilarious.
That's where his timing has come from. The actors best friend is knowing how to listen and make people SEE you listen. Having perfect timing and being able to say things that c-e-r-t-a-i-n special on-the-mark way.. That's an amazing job. You've heard that old line.. "Dying is easy, Comedy is Hard.?
Louie has always been brilliant if you think about it. His animated show on FoxKids back in the 90's (Life w/ Louie) was excellent. Most great comedians unfortunately suffer for their art, it seems.
shareGrew up watching Louie. Glad to see he is doing good again and channeling his creative side through this show. Hopefully it's a healing process for him. If he wins any awards for this they're well deserved and would be a nice way to come full circle for him in light if his past troubles. Go Louie!
shareI love Louie since his Family Feud days one of my favorite hosts.
On E! true Hollywood story about Family Feud it explains the situation with the guy extortion him for money. Low ratings and that happening got him canned from Family Feud.
Wonderful performance, very deep. You can feel his pain.
That part in DJ Sons where she stares off and says, "I had a dream the other night. We were taking a family photo and it was Chip, Dale, and their father. And we were all smiling except for Nathaneal. And I said, "Nathaneal, why aren't you smiling?" And he just stared straight ahead. Sometimes you don't realize how unhappy someone is..."
So moving. I really hope he wins an Emmy for this.
