Not filmed in Bakersfield.
I can tell you with 100% certainty that this show was not at all filmed in Bakersfield.

shareI was wondering about that. The only thing I know about Bakersfield (as a European) is that it's the city that Korn are from. I liked Korn in my teens and watched the show being curious if this was where Korn grew up.
shareDefinitely not. The exterior scene at Chip's mother's house is a dead giveaway. You can see very distant mountains from Bakersfield, but nothing like what's seen from that neighborhood. And the mountains sure as hell aren't that green. Most of the year they're brown and dead. Also, Bakersfield is just generally more desolate, dry, and filthy. I grew up in the area for twelve years. I can assure you, very little, if any, of this show was filmed in Bakersfield. When I first heard that it was going to be the setting of a comedy TV series about down and out rodeo clown, I thought that it would be perfect. The city would've added to the comedic hopelessness of the show. It's a shame they filmed elsewhere.
shareAs should be the case...
Alright lets get this bull sh!t over with...
-Larry David, Curb Your Enthusiasm
I noticed in episode 2 the orange vendor was on Azusa Ave.
shareYup, was probably Covina or West Covina...

The crew would probably refuse to work in Bakersfield, it has the worst air pollution in the state. If you live or work in Bakersfield, you are asking for health problems later on.
shareoh i didnt know that. its still funny though. funny that the wife comes from the most glamourous city in the world...paris....to an armpit of california. funny!
shareI thought Riverside, CA had the worst air pollution
shareBakersfield is outside the 30 mile zone from L.A. so they'd have to pay the crew more money if it was filmed there. Probably filmed somewhere closer that can pass for Bakersfield.
