Ending (spoilers obviously)

So this was an alright movie, well acted, well shot, some of the dialogue behavior was dopey at times but that can be attributed to them being so isolated for 9 years.

Anyway when Patrick goes to lead the creatures away I understood the point, he was trying to redeem himself for his past mistakes. I got it, fine. But my issue is that it was completely unnecessary. They had learned that sound attracts them and very loud noise can deafen and cause them pain...so why did he need to sacrifice himself? He could have just tiptoed over to the gasoline and set up a simple trap while everyone just tip toes away. Dig a small trench in the snow, open up the gasoline, stick the flare at the end of it...flare burns down, big boom, creatures all dead or deafened. Everyone lives to see another day.

The monsters just shouldn't have been that difficult to outsmart, when Patrick crashed the snowmobile the thing was right on top of him and couldn't hear him. The ending just seemed pointless to me.

The movie kinda screwed itself with the whole blind zombie thing. We ended up with baddies that were the exact same creatures from The Descent. Only difference is why the creatures would evolve to go blind in The Descent makes sense......not so much for Extinction.

But back to my point, the movie had too many instances where just standing still and not making noise was a guaranteed way not to be attacked. The movie demonstrated it a few times so just sit in the house and shut the hell up. Why are you making so much noise, why are you shooting? You can literally stand right in front of one, hold your breath, and not be attacked.

You can sneak outside and put fuel in the generator......just be quiet bro lol

Yea they could have just strung together some cans and tossed them at the other house and walked away. The monsters looked cool...they just didn't seem that tough. Hell, Patrick was just kicking them all over the place on the way to the generator anyway.

I agree, their being blind made no sense, as they obviously needed sight to survive. And what were the three - excuse me, non-PC; the *four* - of them seeing at the very end, anyway? One specific area that had thawed out??

You can also, apparently, walk around sloshing water and breathing heavily three feet from the creatures without them hearing you, except when the script tells them to.
