shareIf you paid attention to the movie, you would have noticed that in the beginnig, Jack opened his storage and there were few cans of food left. He ate canned food with rice.
Patrick on the other side had meat and when he opened his storage at one point he had loads of stuff.
Why?
because Jack was holed up in his house and didn't move out much except to get flowers for his dead girlfriend. He was running out of food.
While it was pretty obvious that Patrick was out hunting and scavenging for stuff.
Therefore, one guy had plenty, the other guy had very little.
