Oswaldo's VS Pete's English accents..??

When Tim Roth introduces himself as Oswaldo Mobray he does an annoying over-the-top Monty Python accent.
Later when Tim Roth is wounded he admits he is indeed Pete Hicox, an outlaw, and speaks in another accent. We assume that near-death he goes back to his native English.

But my question is why even change accents?! John Ruth and company have zero idea what "Oswaldo" sounds like.. so wtf is up with the charade.

His working class Cockney accent was more befitting a outlaw, so he used an upper-crust accent to better sell the image of a higher status hangman.

I think "Oswaldo" is meant to be Hicox's notion of a veddy proppah English gentleman.

At the very least, he's acting as un-Hicox-like as he can, to avoid Ruth or anyone else figuring out who he actually is.

Honestly, though, I think Hicox was just having fun with the charade. At least that's how Roth appeared to play him
