For people who read the "leaked original script"...
how much of this movie was different compare to it?
sharehow much of this movie was different compare to it?
sharePretty much the whole last 1/4th of the movie was changed up. Also General Smithers was shot into the fireplace in the script and there was a big scene of them putting him out to avoid the fire spreading and then debating the legality of what happened.
I don't think Daisy was abused as much in the script either. She was never hung or elbowed as much. Tarantino must have been more upset with women during the shooting.
When Ruth vomits blood, we didn't get explained it beforehand.. He just started exploding on Daisy and then died.
At the end Jody kills Warren and the sheriff gets in a bloody shootout with the rest and they basically all bleed out while Tim Roth gets carried to a bed to mimick Mr. Orange stomach bleed out.
I personally loved the story when reading the script. Movie fell flat a bit for me.
the sheriff gets in a bloody shootout with the rest and they basically all bleed out while Tim Roth gets carried to a bed to mimick Mr. Orange stomach bleed out.Yeah...that ending seems really rather too ordinary/'seen-it-all-before' and flat. I think they made the right choice in making the ending more complicated than that...especially the game-changing and surprising hanging of Daisy at the very end.
General Smithers was shot into the fireplace in the script and there was a big scene of them putting him out to avoid the fire spreadingThat seems kinda weird but might've been interesting to see. Smithers coming to a fiery end might have added to the spectacle of the shoot down, but putting-out the fire might have detracted a little.
When Ruth vomits blood, we didn't get explained it beforehand.. He just started exploding on Daisy and then died.I think that may have been another good change. I really enjoyed that scene and at least half the fun was the sheer anticipation of what was about to happen after it is revealed that "Domergue's Got a Secret"
What do you mean game changing? I didn't care for the hanging, agree complicate it, but the hanging was eh to me
shareWell, by the game-changing hanging scene of Daisy, I was just denoting that it's never been done before...nor shown in that way...and thus it has changed the reference point to what we talk about when we discuss the roles of women in films.
On November 6, 2012 god blessed America...again.
Thank you very much for that.
shareThe changes sound good. Ruth suddenly vomiting blood with no explanation sounds jarring and random. And I like the hanging of Daisy. It was sweet justice to a terrible person who thought she'd gotten away with murder.
That's not to say Ruth didn't deserve punishment for his brutality, but he and especially OB, didn't deserve to be bushwacked.

I wish when they filmed it they filmed it both ways so when the BluRay came out you could watch either version. The leaked original version or the re-write.
