Black dingus story is only funny if...

You interpret it as something that was fabricated as a way to hurt and piss off the general into going for the gun warren placed next to him. I think that warren just really hated this guy and wanted a good excuse to kill him. It was funny how he referred to it as "dingus" as was the sinister laugh and his facial expressions. I just lost it when he said " you starting to see pictures ain't ya?" That statement tells me the story was fabricated. If it really did happen that would be rape, which is no laughing matter.

That's a good point. It's difficult to compare one offense with another, but obviously the film is filled with lots of murder and violence, which is no laughing matter either. But that scene seemed to go over the line. Sure he's trying to rile up the Bruce Dern character, but the audio and visual descriptions went too far. It was not necessary to the scene. Perhaps in years to come this type of scene will be viewed differently.

Stop being so sensitive...

reply

‘Too far’, what?

Let’s hope Tarantino NEVER compromises with the Woke mob and continues to push the boundaries of acceptability.

reply

Fuck Tarantino, he hates white people and gets off to over the top glorified violence.

reply

He doesn’t hate white people at all and his OTT violence is very welcome. All hail QT!

reply

I also think it's 100% fabricated. Marquis knew how to piece together "facts" and turn them into his own "fiction"

Just like when he said Minnie hated Mexicans. It wasn't true.. but he knew Señor Bob was telling lies and wasn't employed by her, and etc.

The problem I had was the story went for a bit too long in a movie that already felt WAY too long.

reply

I believe he had to have killed his son since how he knew his name and his hair colour, I guess it's possible he just shot him in self defence and then went through his papers and discovered who he was.

reply

I don't see how the "pictures" line gives it away as a fabrication, please explain. I'm not trying to be douchey, I just really don't get it.

I don't think any of the characters in this would view rape as being the one thing over the line given everything else they partake in.

And let's be honest, people's problem with it is that it's gay. Rather than the adult son of a Confederate, they'd feel more comfortable if it was a Yankee's minor daughter.

Regardless, I think that's a genius of the movie, there's a few things like that where you're left to decide for yourself whether or not you think it's true, like the extra 15 men

reply

I think the character was making up the story.

reply

Personally, I don't think it matters whether it was made up or not.

BUT, I'd bet that it was. The Major did kill the general's son, but he's eventually proven himself to be an expert liar. And it's a bit too convenient that he has such a horrible story that just happens to drive the general to attempt murder.

I never thought about the Mexican angle though, that the major might also have been lying about Minnie hating Mexicans. Sounds credible, BUT why would he need to make that up? He already knew, from the stew, that Minnie hadn't left when Bob said she left. Also, the major didn't challenge Bob with the Mexicans thing, he just stated it and started shooting.

I never liked that scene and always fast forward through it. The first time I saw it, I nearly threw up. But it's mainly that I find blow jobs gross no matter who's doing it. Would have found it just as gross if it was a woman in the scene.

reply

1. It's just a movie, it is not real
2. They don't actually show anything
3. Who has the fortitude to watch a QT movie, but thinks even the suggestion of a BJ is literally nauseating.
4. The incident most certainly wasn't real, even within the movie itself.
5. Blow jobs are amazing

reply

To each their own. I can't stand watching that scene. Couldn't you understand why someone would find blowjobs gross? Is that so unfathomable to you? It drives me nuts how people on the internet act like I am weird for thinking that's gross!

reply

No, I can't understand how someone that likes Quinton Tarantino movies would find blowjobs so gross that they'd have a physical reaction to the mere suggestion of one.

reply

Blowjobs in general, or male-on-male forced blowjobs?

reply

Blowjobs in general. Also there were no blowjobs in Pulp Fiction, Inglorious Basterds, or Django Unchained. I can stand violence but blowjobs are too much for me. I find it gross to suck on someone's private parts. Man or woman.

reply

Count me in the pro-blowjob camp. More to the point, I don't know that weird is the right word, but it's an unusual phobia. I suppose many people find some normal thing to be gross, scary etc., and for you it's blowjobs. There isn't much you can do about it, because movies don't come with warnings for specific things like "this movie has snakes in it," or "there's a scene with a blender."

reply

I think you are weird for thinking it's normal and comparing it to a blender or a snake. I mean let's face it's not something one does in a public setting. Also it's not just the short scene itself. It's Jackson's character going on for several minutes about how he forced him to walk naked through snow and bragging about him licking his penis. I think it would have been as effective without him mentioning the blow job at all. Just say that he killed him cause he didn't like Smithers and hated racist Southern men. That scene is made worse for the rape.

reply

It wasn't funny no matter how you look at it. I wanted to murder Tarantino for writing such filth, and all the actors for acting it out.
