Or pick him off as he was getting out of the stage coach. Or poison the coffe at the begening. Or about nine hundred other things that would have worked better. This movie is stupid. Tarantions name is the only reason this got any respect.

It's the typical movie villain procedure to never kill the hero the easy way, but go the elaborate Rube Goldberg roundabout route.

shareI wonder if they did try to poison him. He tasted the coffee and spat it out. Then threw it out and made a fresh batch. If the coffee had not been so bad it could have worked.
As for just shooting him when he walked thru the door I bet they wanted to check the situation out before they acted. He was traveling with a driver and two men. Needed to figure out the situation first. And they also wanted to make sure Daisy was not hurt. If they just opened up guns a blazin, Hangman would probably just shoot Daisy. So they needed to catch him with his guard very down, preferably asleep.

I think you're correct, the coffee was poisoned when Ruth came in. Oswaldo was much too interested in watching and appeared disappointed when Ruth spit it out and dumped the pot.
