It wasn't why they didn't shoot Ruth when he first walked in, or why they didn't poison the coffee earlier. I couldn't wrap my head around how two professional bounty hunters in the Wyoming territory did not recognize the gang members from wanted posters and etc. Major *beep* said he knew of the gang near the end of the movie and the reward on them. John Ruth obviously knew the Daisy looked liked and who she was, so how did he never come across any of the others. Especially when apparently everybody knew everybody. Ruth knew Mannix and Major. Major knew Ruth and General. Mannix knew Ruth and Major and General. Daisy knew Major. And another thing, how the hell did the gang even know John Ruth caught her, let alone where he was taking her or that they were stopping by Minnies. I guess the Pony Express was extremely efficient back then, since word of mouth was really the only way to get info around. The Jody says "we might be here a few days", which how did they know a blizzard was coming that was gonna trap them there. Just seemed like rather big details to overlook.

Back in those days, wanted posters did not have pictures. They would describe the person wanted and if anything, they might have a drawing which could or could not actually look like the outlaw. So it's plausible to say that neither John or Warren knew what these guys looked like, only there reputation. And as far as the gang knowing where they would be, Red Rock might be the only place in the area where hangings take place. And Minnies is the only stop between where they were coming from and Red Rock. So they had an idea of where they were going and the only place they'd stop before reaching Red Rock.
