shareGood review.
I watched 'Cake' alone on a weekday. It came in theaters way too late here. My friends
aren't too much into these kinds of movies, but I was determined to watch it. For me,
the atmosphere helped pretty much. Watching this alone helped me relate to the character.
Jennifer Aniston was perfect, and this is definitely the best performance in her career.
The 'setting up in the car' scene you mentioned was really powerful. What I liked even more is the one when she's in the pool and admit for the first time to her trainer that
she wants to get better. I remember Aniston saying that she has a fear of going
underwater, and the pool scene took about 30 takes to get right. That for me added to
the character and the pain she was going through.
I can understand giving the Oscar to Julianne Moore. She was great in Still Alice.
But I will never understand how Jennifer wasn't even nominated for Cake.
You remember movies but you don't remember your life?
Thanks for the comment! Would you mind cutting and pasting this into the comments of the blog post? I'm trying to get a discussion going over there and it would be much appreciated! I'll respond to the comment over there too but I thought watching it alone really helped as well!
Thanks in adavance!
Thank you. I posted it there. Hope to read more from you soon.
shareGreat review! I just watched it today and as a chronic pain warrior, it was very emotional for me. I agree that people with loved ones in a similar situation, it could be very enlightening for them to watch.
