I actually really liked this movie...

Saw this in a cheap theatre with my dad on April 4, and I actually REALLY liked it. I vaguely remembered the book by Munro Leaf (and discovered the old Walt Disney short cartoon shortly before this one was announced), and figured they'd evidently have to expand it to a 90+ minute feature-length cartoon. Really liked it overall, again, though.

I know other seem to be saying otherwise, but the fact that Ferdinand was presented as a PACIFIST (as in the original book) and that he was a sensitive, nice guy despite his bulky *hem* "BEEFY" (sorry, Ferd!) appearance (I, myself, am kind of like that tbh, maybe that's why), his relationship with his adorable owner Nina, the beautifully animated landscapes, which actually contained REAL SPANIARD landmarks, according to my dad who's been to Spain (the Bridge at Rhonda, the Madrid Arena, Sevilla, etc.)

Then again, this IS Carlos Saldanha, the man who made both "Rio" films more geographically accurate for de Janeiro and the Amazon Rainforest respectively than "Indiana Jones" or "James Bond" ("Rio 2" didn't feature the Iguazu Falls - which are down in Argentina not the Amazon -that those other films did...) so it makes sense that he'd create a fairly authentic animated duplicate of Spain. :)

It's cute, melancholic, and funny at times. I liked the scenes with the hedgehogs and the bunny.
