Ascendant will be a TV movie
what a failure! Lionsgate announced that Ascendant will be a TV movie and will not be shown in theaters.

shareAs the guy from Cinema Sins would say:

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.
It may not even go to TV. Many of the actors are upset about this and may refuse to reprise their roles. They signed on for theatrical release and if it goes to TV, I've heard they don't have to do it. It would be better to end it now instead of doing a TV movie with new actors.
shareIf it goes to TV without the original characters, I won't be watching, might as well quit now
shareWhich is exactly why I suspect, have always suspected, that the studio never had any intention of doing this TV movie-then-spinoff thing. They made all of these plans without even telling any of the cast, let alone signing new contracts for them to actually appear in it. If the cast passes, they have no movie -- because why would anyone want to see a concluding movie with entirely different characters or the same characters recast with different actors? It wouldn't happen. The studio was never going to make a TV movie. They just wanted an out.

If its a TV movie, most of the actors won't do it. They will be shooting itself in the foot if they produce it
shareHonestly, after seeing "Allegiant", I'm not surprised that the next and last will be a TV feature. The gadgets and effects were cool, but the whole thing was so badly-made, I felt like I was watching a movie-version of one of those ultra-realistic looking video games. Way too much obvious use of green screen.
I don't know for sure, but I feel like they lost a lot of money on this one. Probably influenced their decision to make it a TV movie. But what a wasted opportunity for the actors involved!
That's what they get for taking another trilogy and stretching it into four parts by splitting the last book into two movies. Bad form.
shareThey could probably fix this series and make a good 4th film if they get rid of the people involved with making Allegiant. This film was utter trash. They need to go back to the roots of 1st film, not try to up the ante by adding tons of CGI'd SciFi "tech" that makes absolutely no sense.
Hunger Games made these same exact mistakes. I don't understand why they would follow in their footsteps.
Was the return for this movie so bad that ir warrants a TV release? Why not just end the series altogether?
1. BVS 2. TWS 3. Avengers
