Just Saw It, Ask Me Anything

You can ask me anything about Allegiant.

Why was this movie made?

Lol good one

2:1 return for the first two movie. I didn't like either of them, but as long as these movies are profitable I doubt they will stop.

Good one...I was about to ask..."When do you graduate from Grade School?"😐

...bar is closed people stagger out
the pretty, the crippled, and the proud.

1. Why was Joan complaining about the way Evelyn was running things?

2. Why do Four and Evelyn look the same age?

3. Why did Tris want to save Caleb from execution?

reply

I'm not the OP, but here's my input:

1. Why was Joan complaining about the way Evelyn was running things?

She was killing lots of people. If Joanne was okay with a dictator killing everyone who had a different POV, she would have left Kate Winslet in charge.

2. Why do Four and Evelyn look the same age?

Four is played by a thirtysomething pretending to be mid-twenties.
Evelyn is played by a blonde with a brunette dye-job and presumably a lot of make-up, because she looks ten years younger than her real age.

3. Why did Tris want to save Caleb from execution?

Because that's what family members do for each other.

But Evelyn was just killing bad guys. In fact, if Joan had just left things alone, the whole attempted memory wipe thing wouldn't have happened. The entire war was entirely Joan's fault.

Strange, according to Caleb they betray each other because they can't get a boner any other way.

Evelyn killed anyone who didn't do what she said. She started with Kate Winslet's followers, but then went on to kill Joan's followers as well.

Joan started the war to overthrow Evelyn, the same way Tris started a war to overthrow Kate Winslet. One might as easily say, leave Kate in power to avoid starting a war.

And the memory wipe ... they act as if it was a terrible idea, but it was a non-lethal weapon that would have stopped the war and prevented any further killing.

So you think Caleb is always right? Maybe he should have been the hero instead of Tris.

Because Joan and her followers were being idiots. Evelyn was right to kill Jeanine's followers. Joan should have left it alone. But no, she wants to act like a five year old and ended up causing a war within Chicago.

Joan started the war to overthrow Evelyn, the same way Tris started a war to overthrow Kate Winslet.

The war with Jeanine was justified. The war with Evelyn was committed by pettiness.

One might as easily say, leave Kate in power to avoid starting a war.

Jeanine was a bad guy. Overthrowing her was justified. Joan didn't have that excuse with Evelyn.

And the memory wipe ... they act as if it was a terrible idea, but it was a non-lethal weapon that would have stopped the war and prevented any further killing.

Yeah, having Evelyn think it'll wipe their memories works. But if they wanted to raise the stakes, they should have had the gas actually kill people.

So you think Caleb is always right? Maybe he should have been the hero instead of Tris.

You've completely missed the point with that one. Caleb was a traitor. Tris had no reason to value his life at all.

Let me tell you this: Allegiant is the best Divergent movie. First 30 minutes was exciting and it has a good pacing. After that, movie gets really slow and some plot points are really cliche. This movie isn't that big. There isn't much action, there are some (a little bit) thriller at the end. The good point of this movie was, nothing was left for the last movie. This movie made every second count. You know, like Mockingjay 1, it wasn't boring and save everything for the final movie. This movie was different from the series. It was fine. 6/10

Thanks for what you said.

I was interested in the way they tried to rebuild Chicago in the first movie so it was really interesting to me how they showed the world outside the walls in this movie.

About the bad guys in this series, I didn't mind that they happened to be pretty obvious (except for David) because of the cast system which was in place in Chicago.

I thought Eric was very cruel (and I hated him, he was given authority over and supposed to teach those he supervised) to Christina in the first movie when he made her cling to her life while dangling over the ledge in the Dauntless base/deep cave.

And yet in this movie, we see just outside the wall a huge limestone cliff. So rock climbing skill was validated.

About tribal casts, it seemed to me that Miles Teller might look like he belonged in the same tribe as Maggie Q. But they acted different and "Torie" ( Victoria , literally victory) died. ...So they sort of rhyme with Four and Beatrice.

On a scale of toilet to urinal, how good was it?

reply

Do you think Elgort, Teller and Woodley are wearing out their welcome and becoming tiresome and need to take their respective careers in a different direction?

reply

Does Tris die? or did they change the ending?

reply

The naked butt belong to who?

reply

Nope. There are lots of differences between the book and the movie, of course. Another movie is coming out, that's for sure, but this franchaise should end with this movie.

reply

Just out of curiosity, were the differences in the book better because it's more detailed? I didn't like Allegiant because it seemed so two dimensional; like it didn't flesh out some of the character conflict to make it seem more realistic and not just petty. Granted. It's a young adult series but I thought the first two movies were good.

reply

Teller wore out his welcome LOOOOOOOONG ago. He just needs to fade away like Shia Labeouf did.

As for Elgort and Woodley... I really don't know what direction they're planning to go in with their careers at this point. Woodley would probably do better staying indie rather than continuing the mainstream route. Elgort is attractive and a fairly decent actor but he's not getting the Channing Tatum or Chris Pratt roles he should be going for to improve his star status.

Whatever the weather my ass! It's hot as hell out here!

Tris' mom was from the Frindge. They showed the kids from the Frindge getting that memory serum immediately after getting captured. How come they have those memory things from her mom, showing her getting captured and then when she was a teen (those things David gave to Tris and she put on her temples)?

Trying to figure this out, but haven't been able to.

I dream of being a  .
