Derivative, But Pretty Enjoyable ....

Take one part 'Unfriended' and add one part 'Some Kind Of Hate' .... throw in a blender and voila "Friend Request".

It wasn't a terrible movie. I thought the 'twist' with the ex-boyfriend realizing that killing the final girl could save him since she was supposed to be the lonely survivor with no friends. was decent.

But the ending made no sense to me at all because this movie dealt with them tracking down a weird witchy girl to figure out how to end the situation. (whose mother 'died' in a fire and who was kept alive to give birth.

By possessing the final girl at the end (with her new Facebook name/account. no one would be able to solve anything or research anything. Maybe that was the point ? Not worth thinking too deeply about, but overall the movie is worth a view.

They were tracking down where Marina committed suicide because they needed to destroy her laptop to stop the demon. The laptop was the demon's gateway into the world and the internet.

The ending was really just to setup a possible sequel. It was implying that Laura would repeat what Marina did.

Thanks for replying. I did realize that, but it was why I was saying the very end made no sense at all. I guess Laura could be using Marina's laptop as her portal too. But no future victim would have an option to destroy Laura and maybe that is the exact point (now Marina is immortal in Laura)

Like you said --- sequel bait. (but it wasn't good enough to merit a sequel in my opinion.

I would be surprised if they did make a sequel. I doubt this movie made much money, and most critics hated it. It's probably going to be a forgotten one off that nobody will remember in six months. I felt like it could have been better. It was okay and I liked it, but it needed more of a script.
