German, English, what is it?

The main info here on IMDB says that it's from Germany but was shot in South Africa. The language of Facebook was set to English but most of the entries were in German and it didn't look like they simply translated it. The effects also looked too advanced for Germany and most of the crew's names sound German, plus the director is actually German.
So, what the hell is this movie?

reply

Calm down. I have seen the movie already and it was entirely in English.

Ok, so where is this film available? I've yet to be able to find it listed in theaters, VOD, online, etc.. So, can someone please point me in the direction of where I can see this film?

I actually thought I'd found it earlier today through my Xfinity-On-Demand list, but when I purchased it and began to view it I quickly realized it WAS NOT this film, Friend Request(2016), but rather was a 2013 film of the same name that stars Anthony Michael Hall..

Shame on Xfinity for falsely labeling it as being released in 2016..I just wasted my money on a movie starring Anthony Michael Hall, that I have zero desire to see.

Anyone who may know where its available please post!

Yeah, I almost fell for that, too. I have Verizon FIOS (AKA The Devil) and what they did was even worse. They also have the 2013 movie, which I stumbled upon on there, but they paired it with the cast list for this one. Almost got fooled, since I wanted to see this for Alycia Debnam-Carey. Only, when I watched the trailer, she was conspicuous by her absence. So luckily I did some further searching just now and realized they are, in fact, 2 different movies, and hers (this one) hasn't come out yet, unfortunately. Oh well, at least I saved some dough.

Rant: I just hate how careless society is these days about errors like that. And they're the ones with a job and I can't find a job I'm good at (that also pays the bills)? Screw That. Its like no one cares about things like writing, spelling, grammar, proofreading, etc these days. Just try to read your local newspaper and count all the errors. And don't even get me started on typos in Missing Kid/Person notices. Unacceptable. Basically, all the stuff I'm good at (that stuff, stuff that I guess isn't considered "traditionally masculine", etc), no one cares about. And all the stuff the world does care about (typical macho, "alpha" crap), I suck at :-( lol

I guess with the world being so fast paced these days, with everyone rushing around so much they have no time to relax or even think, all the technological advances, stuff like that isn't considered "important" anymore. So I guess I'm a "dinosaur". Even though I don't feel that old ::shrug:: Young enough to still like Alycia :-) Born in the wrong era, I guess (just not sure if I'm behind my time or ahead of my time). But what can you do? At least, if I was doing that job, I promise you all I wouldn't make stupid, careless mistakes like that.

Sorry...I always end up ranting on here (usually for longer than that) lol But yeah, you should contact Xfinity and tell them you were misled. Unless they're super fascist...uh, I mean capitalist, corporate pigs with no empathy or humanity (which could be true), you can probably get your money refunded. Hey, its worked for me in the past with The Devil...erm, Verizon :-)

Oh, and sorry if there's any typos in this post. I'm not a pretentious hypocrite - Really (though it is human for all of us to make those errors from time to time, especially in an informal setting like this...that's not the issue) :-) Just my stupid computer keyboard acting up - it doesn't want to type "n" anymore, so I have to copy/paste it in from previous docs. Pathetic, huh? So respect the effort/time it takes for me to write these "novels" lol Guess its time to buy a new PC if my a-- wasn't so broke :-/ lol

are you lonely? do you need a friend?

Where did you see it? The version i'm watching is in german

reply

It was filmed in South Africa for the German and American market but with American actors. The film is set in California and was first released in Germany, even though it was filmed in English. Yeah, it is a bit weird.

"The effects also looked too advanced for Germany"

^what? *lol* you can't be serious... for example the visual effects of "Cloud Atlas", "Hunger Games" and even "Captain America: Civil War" were made by a german film studio located in Berlin.

It`s in German with English subs..

ehmm hi guys ...the movie i found heere in greece is in german too with english subs ...
what the heck is going on here ...hehe....german don't sound as good as english but i guess it's a watchable movie....

reply

It's not in German.

There is an illegal upload on the web that is DUBBED in German with English subtitles, but the film was originally filmed in English with English speaking actors.

Those of you willing to wait for legal streams will see the movie in English.

Those of you who aren't get what you get.

Movies are IQ tests; the IMDB boards are how people broadcast their score.

I watched it dubbed in German with English subtitles.
