I know it seems like a bit of a stretch but Dr.Gordon made Adam a promise. When Dr.Gordon finally left the building i'm pretty sure they left the part out where he helps Adam escape on purpose.

shareI do think Adam is dead, but there are theories stating that he is alive and survived Amanda's mercy-kill. Adam smashed his head against the toilet during the struggle in that scene and looks as though he passes out instantly - so he could have survived.
shareI mean.. his actual corpse was shown MULTIPLE times throughout the franchise. Saw II showed him dead and rotting, as well as Saw III. Saw 3D showed him completely decomposed. I don't know if there's any turning back from being a straight up skeleton.
shareGo and research the theories. They state that Adam's corpse has been switched with Detective Tapp's, hence why we never see Tapp's body in the hallway outside the bathroom. like I said before, I believe Adam is dead, however there is evidence behind the theory.
