It's an extremely slow paced with a disappointing ending. Sometimes slow burners end with something rewarding but this is just a let down.

From film critic Jason Bailey:
Like Their Finest, Secret Scripture takes a big turn in its last half-hour, and if anything, this one is even more contrived. And yet it somehow works; it?s a moving conclusion, done with skill and emotion. There are worse things in this world than a well-executed literary adaptation.
He's telling you this average film is better than the worst things in the world. Lol, trust me, anything is better than the worst thing. Only worst can be worse than the worst.
