Almost wish this wasn't a comedy..Dark stuff sometimes

While it has never been officially said that the Mole women were raped while in the bunker, I've always thought it was strongly implied. What man would kidnap a bunch of women just live with them for 15 years for no reason? Now we know that the Rev was also Kimmys husband. Plus, Kimmys PTSD and freak outs with men make sense if she was abused in the bunker.

At times I find this show very dark and the actress who plays Kimmy gets a very dark look in her eyes, and for a second it feels like the show could get very heavy and serious but then snaps right back into the silly comedy. Examples are when she was on the talk show and started crying about how she wanted to help her friend but felt scared and helpless, or when she was with her mom and had the velcro shoe flashback.

Sometimes I wish the show wasn't so silly because sometimes in those seconds I just wait to see what's going to happen next and if they will take it all the way. You get to see a human side of kimmy and what's underneath all the silly overly happy and positive facade.

And I find that leaves me feeling a little unsettled to see the darkness lurking inside kimmy.

I think the actress who plays kimmy would be a good dramatic actress too.

I've actually teared up,a few times watching this show.

Anyone else feel the same?

You bring up some good points.

They say comedy is tragedy + time.

I wonder how many eps Tina Fey wrote? I've heard rumors that she was cut in the face by a stranger when she was young. I've wondered if she ever draws on that with kimmy.

In season 1 somebody asking kimme about life in the bunker. She said was there weird sex stuff going on, yes there was. She doesn't say anything else about it or refer to later. I think it is just supposed to be a given.

Reading between the lines: OP thinks women are only for sex.
