The Magical Negro Woman

She had to die for the White family.

Race baiting denied. If you wanna compare, more white people died gruesome deaths than black people in this movie. And in spite of being set in the 60s, they didn't bring up any racial segregation or other racism, which is nice, cause they use that as propaganda a lot of the time. Instead they treated her character as if she was in modern times, with all interactions being those of equality rather than inferiority or superiority.
Hey, let's talk about the American civil war. A lot more white people fought for the Northern side than black people who were fighting to win their freedom. I guess that's a hell of a lot of white people dying for blacks, but you don't seem to mind?

they had me on the edge of my seat thinking the mother was going to be forced to give up her soul to get her daughter back.

luckily they had a black woman written in for the sole purpose of dying for that pretty little white lady and her baby.

Complete cop out ruined the film.

I hear ya.

@VV what a stupid response. The Civil War??? Really?? I think your post speaks for itself.

reply

Yeah it was lazy writing at best. Ridiculous

reply

All of you missed the whole point. I thought that the black woman was the actual hero of the movie.
