What's with the hands???

Why did the movie focus so much on people's hands? Anyone know the significance of that?

Tremors from traumatic brain injury. They can be a sign of more problems. Even though Ali has another disease, he began having tremors from his boxing bouts. Footballers can exhibit the same signs.

A brief scene about hands at the film's beginning and you think they focused "so much" on hands? After that there is no mention of hands, the focus goes to the brain.

The NFL has "blood on its hands." That's how I saw it, especially since the film opens with discussion of blood on one's hands and then shows Will Smith keeping his hand outside the car, keeping it "clean" if you will.

I would guess in Mike Webster's case it's simply the fact that he played center, had broken his fingers repeatedly during his career and then was homeless. I made through college in football and have steel plates in my right hand and broke several fingers, several times as a lineman. My hands look pretty gross.

Broken hands and dislocated fingers leave visible damage, knotted arthritic joints. Brain injury - you have to look a bit deeper.
