Why so many Pittsburgh players? Are they just who got his attention?

I know Mike Webster was the first one that struck the city. Dr. Omalu wouldn't have known what a big deal it was if he didn't see him at the hospital and all the people in the streets distraught over it.

How about the other players? I guess that was just local news and not really ESPN so he saw more about the local guys and not just some seemingly random NFL player that went nuts.

I know the cases were piling up but just kinda wondering about this. I probably answered the question already.

Since Dr. Omalu was in Pittsburgh, his first subjects were there. The scope has become much wider in the past few years. Junior Seau is one that comes to mind. Many NFL widowers are donating their husbands brains. At least it gives them some perspectives as to why their husbands demeanor changed so much throughout the years.

Yea it is so terribly sad.

The old Steeler greats had a reputation for delivering the most punishing and aggressive hits, so it makes sense.

Because his first couple subjects died in Pittsburgh and he worked there. Then he started seeking out other NFL players to develop his study.
