So is it a flop or ok?

What is the percentage markup above budget that a film must be to break even for the producers? And how much for it to not be considered a flop? If the producers spent 35M for the movie and till now it has made 34M, a lot of that 34M must have gone to exhibitors and distributors right?

The producers might also be making money from other avenues, merchandise, satellite, blu ray etc. But still, how much should a movie make over its budget to qualify as not-flop?

Upfront, I really liked the movie and will be buying the DVD. I believe the subject/movie was probably too uncomfortable for fans of the #1 sport in the Country to pay to see?

That said (written) it would have to be flop, for it was expected to make a lot more $$$ at the box office.

So maybe there's different categories of flops: Bad Movie, didn't make $$s, didn't meet expectations,...
