David Morse was fantastic
Too bad it was such a small role
shareDavid Morse is one of my favourite character actors, always a strong performance even in some of the dross he has popped up in. I put him with Brian Cox as must watch no matter who is starring.
shareDude is always great. Think Dancer in the dark or even 12 Monkeys. Don't remember seeing him do poorly, ever.

He's an excellent underrated actor whom I've liked since seeing him in ST. ELSEWHERE way back in the day. His role as the troubled and sick former athlete, though small, was significant and heartbreaking to watch.
shareI have loved him since St. Elsewhere. He once again did an amazing job. Just wish the part had been bigger so he could have been nominated for a supporting actor for the academy awards.

I agree. Your post made me check out both their awards records. They do have awards and nominations, but I agree, both should have received more recognition than they have. btw, I had forgotten, they were both in "The Green Mile."

I'm about to watch this with my wife. We've always enjoyed David Morse. He was great in The Green Mile & Medium.

David Morse really was good in this. The role may have been small but it was memorable.
shareVery compelling performance by David Morse. I didn't recognize him at first, it was ... wait that's ... David Morse. Love this actor. Favorite role is him as George Washington in HBO series John Adams as well as The Green Mile. Even with short screen time, he was so compelling as a former NFL star with repeated brain injuries.
shareAgreed, I am not an actor, but I kept thinking Morse performance should be used in film school as an example of “there are no small parts…”
Apparently Morse took this very seriously and did his own research on Webster. That is impressive to me, because I am sure a lot of actors would have seen they were only getting a few scenes, and just performed the role and cashed the check.
I love David Morse and he's always been good in parts, big or small, even in terrible movies. Take "The Langoliers" which was, for all intents and purposes, grossly cheesy, cheap and mostly terrible acting, except for David Morse. He's a fantastic actor and I can't wait to see what he does next.
