America is great, Nigeria and the rest of Africa is bad. We get it
I hated this part of the story. Not everyone wants to go to the US and think it's amazing. The movie made it like the Nigeria is such a terrible place or something.

shareWell, I think Nigeria IS pretty terrible actually. TONS of people (way way more than they ought to have) and limited resources.
shareDo you know anything at all about Nigeria? Obviously not.
Check out a few interviews by Dr Omalu. He's speaks a lot about the American Dream.
I am the Alpha and the Omoxus. The Omoxus and the Omega
You're probably confusing people who talk about how great those nordic socialist countries with the universal health care, the bike paths, and the 6 months maternity leave are. I don't think anybody is packing their bags to go to the countries where the merchants sit on the streets, and the people have to wear gas masks.
shareI agree. I'm watching Concussion now and while I appreciate that the real Dr Omalu bought in to the American Dream, it's really irritating me that the narrative of the movie is constantly harping back to how great the USA is when this is clearly a film about how screwed up America can be. I do not say this to denigrate the US but it seems to me it is difficult for Americans to make films that highlight areas of its society that is lacking without also saying to audiences 'it's ok folks, even though this is really messed up we're still the greatest'. It is jarring and uneccesary, every country has its good and bad points. I am English, I love my country so much something truly awful would have to happen for me to consider leaving it. It is by no means perfect but then no country is. I find it difficult to believe Americans really believe they are the best country on
earth, it seems to me to be a completely unbalanced view of the world.
