The meaning of the name "Dare Devil"

I thought that why his name is Dare Devil is because the suit is suppose to be RED..
But in the show its dark winered or how to say... almost black..
and the poster shows him in a red suit but not in the show :/
Sorry if I sound too picky but I dont recognize DD in that suit.

I have only watched the trailer but trying to deside if I will watch it or not.

In the comics, "Daredevil" was a nickname that the neighborhood kids gave to Matt Murdock because of the crazy stunts he would pull. It then became a mocking nickname after Matt's dad forbade him from engaging in the usual semi-dangerous kid activities because Jack wanted his boy inside studying to make something of himself rather than grow up to be a washed up loser like him. Matt later reclaimed the nickname and made it his own when he became a vigilante as an adult. DD's costume before the red one was yellow and before that the black outfit like you see for most of season one of the show.

In close ups with the mask where you can see the horns he looks more like classic Daredevil. I doubt that we will ever see a brighter red suit, but the suit is a work in progress. We may eventually see the "DD" on the chest.

This show is always shot partly in the shadows, and the scenes where he has the suit on are especially dark, so it's hard to tell exactly what shade of red it is.

The suit looks red enough for me. Too bright and it won't fit in their Hell's Kitchen.
