Fisk and the Punisher

I've always wondered when Fisk would've started to communicate with Frank Castle via intermediaries. We know that Fisk's offer was the reason Castle threw his trial. But I have to wonder, had Fisk made first contact with Castle before he entered his plea? Because the way it plays out, Foggy and Matt plan to reduce Castle's sentence through a plea deal, wherein he pleads guilty to a lesser. Castle pretends to agree, then pleads not guilty so that it goes to a trial. I want to imagine that maybe Fisk's intermediaries were in contact with Castle before he entered his "not guilty" plea.

What I'm saying is, I imagine that even if Nelson & Murdock hadn't defended Castle, Castle would've still ended up meeting Fisk. He'd have still pleaded not guilty, he'd still throw his trial, all that.

If Kingpin's men were in Frank's ear before about the deal and that's why Frank threw the trial so he could go to prison why would he plead not guilty and risk not going to prison? If the deal was in play before Frank's arraignment wouldn't Frank have just pled guilty to get to prison faster to accept the deal?

I don't think Fisk man contact with Frank until right before he went on the stand to testify. I'm pretty sure the night before Frank was on board with his testimony and then he walks on into court that day all hostile. I think that's when the deal was offered to him. Like I said above if the deal was always in play I think Frank just would have pled guilty and went right to prison instead of wasting time with a trial he was going to lose on purpose.

On second thought, you're right. But I still think Fisk meeting Castle was always going to happen regardless, the moment Castle got caught. If Castle pleaded guilty, he would go straight to jail and Fisk would arrange the meeting. If he pleaded not guilty, it wouldn't matter who defended Castle as Fisk would still send that guard bribed by Donovan to deliver Castle an offer he couldn't refuse.
