(s2 spoliers) Why did Stick cure Elektra's injury...
and save her life, then immediately try to get her killed? Then after that failed he had lots of chances to kill her himself but didn't.

I agree, the last episode was cheesy as *beep* and had horrible writing!
Punisher appears out of nowhere, shoots the four Ninjas who have been standing there doing nothing but watching Matt fighting Nobu, Karen randomly looks up and notices Punisher (and she's the only one who does that), Stick appears out of nowhere to finish off Nobu, while the police are just standing there looking at the building instead of doing something.
Also Matt kinda threw Nobu off the building despite being very strict about not killing a person, and he was okay with Elektra and Punisher killing Ninjas.
Elektra's death became very predictable when Matt made that lame promise about running with her, I'm glad she's dead to be honest (why do I have a feeling she's gonna comeback later?), I didn't like her at all, and it feels like the bad writing started when she was introduced.
He didn't know about her being a black sky when he cured her. However, I'm not 100% sure about that because it's been a while since I saw the show. I just started it over and man, it is world's better the second time around
shareHe states that he knew it ever since she was a child and it was actually the reason why he took her under his wing, thinking that he would be able to hone her into being on his faction's side.
shareSeason 2 is so inferior to Season 1

I think the reason why he saved Elektra at the moment was because he still want Matt to come back to work to him. So first he has to win Matt's heart. Helping Elektra is the easiest way since he loves her to death. He tried to kill Elektra when she left to town because he thinks she's useless.
shareWell, she was working with him then. Then she went rogue so she kinda didn't want her out there cuz she was so dangerous so...
shareHe knew she was the black sky. He took her in to try to turn her against the hand, after he healed her, Matt had the talk with her and she decided to take the route of being with Matt and no longer fighting the hand. Sticks then makes the choice to kill her so to stop her from falling into the hand hands.
“A prisoner of war is a man who tries to kill you and fails, and then asks you not to kill him.”
But why did he not kill her himself when he had ample chances later on?
shareStick is very conflicted, and it's clear he cares for both Matt and Elektra
I mean he kept the bracelet that Little Matt made for him after all those years. And he got Elektra adopted by a wealthy family, because he wanted her to have what Matt didn't have. By that point, he felt he had messed things up with Matt by leaving him, and he didn't want to make the same mistake twice. And that's who Stick is, he's a guy who doesn't make mistakes twice.
I especially love the line he has right before leaving her:
"Forget my Elley? Never."
