I hated season 2.
Only liked the Punisher. Electra sucked big time. Both the acting and the storyline. Really ..a big downfall after season 1. Kingpin was great..the stairwell fight..the prison..Frank Castle. and the rest sucked big time.

The zombie ninjas were not.
so you hate daredevil comics then?
you hate everything about daredevil except this show? why did you even bother watching it?
DUH! Cause i'm a big comics fan. But comparing to season 1...it REALLY sucked. Electra SUCKED. Wilson Fisk is a GREAT character in this show. a true manifestation of the books' Kingpin. Punisher is also great. Daredevil started fighting like Electra since she came...it wasnt as "gritty" as it was in Se 1.
My only problem with Season 2 (and it's a fairly big problem) is that the Elektra/ninja/Hand story interrupted Frank Castle's... If they could have introduced those two new characters and their storylines during separate seasons, it would have allowed for a much more cohesive and consistent tone.

Yeah, the season felt like two seasons smooshed together. The two stories seemed to fight for attention and both kind of suffered for it. Elektra's side of the story had to wrap up quickly just when it started getting good, leaving a lot of unanswered questions and some plotholes. Punisher's story was interesting up until he left prison and he suddenly started paling around with Karen Page because they had to keep him interacting with the main cast somehow. His story started to drag after the prison escape.
I think things could have gone better if the two storylines were interconnected somehow. Maybe tie the Punisher's backstory into the yakuza somehow, which brings him into conflict with the Hand.
That said, I loved season 2 and didn't mind zombie-ninjas since I expected them eventually.
I think your assessment would be identical to mine. Honestly, the second season did the absolute best with melding the two different stories of Elektra and Punisher. Rewatching it, I picked up on so much subtext I missed the first time because I was still processing the scene right before.
Btw, who are the original 4 defenders? Is it The Punisher, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist? Or is Jessica Jones among them?
LilGripes.com
The original Defenders were.Dr Strange, Hulk, Namor, and Silver Surfer. Daredevil, Cage, and Iron Fist joined briefly years later but they were not prominent members. Jones was never a Defender.
Also, I agree that the season works better after a second viewing.
Oh I never read Defenders comics (obviously). I can't wait particularly for Cage and Matt Murdock to meet each other; they seem like two peas in a pod, demeanor-wise. The Punisher would have good chemistry with any of others from the Netflix shows.
LilGripes.com
The Defenders Netflix show has 0% to do with the comic of the same name. It's just a cool team name Marvel likes so they're using it here.
You may see some people hoping that the "real" Defenders will make appearances but that's not likely (and in some cases currently impossible).
Reading my signature constitutes admission that I am correct. (Too late)
Ah thanks for the background info!

Season 2 is a masterpiece.
shareI really preferred season #2.
I actually think of all the superhero comic films and shows, it's the truest to the original format and story.
