No pun intended. Just started watching. The actor looks like he weighs less than a buck and a half. But at least so far (3 eps in) he hits like a straw weight which makes it more realistic. Then again, he is dropping a fire extinguisher on someone's head from several stories up and then dropping him off a building into a dumpster but apparently knows for certain that this will not kill him! He doesn't kill, only severely beats people and throws them off buildings!
I would say my memory is not what it used to be. But I don't remember what my memory used to be.
Point of order: He doesn't "know" those actions won't kill them, he's aware it might but leaving it up to God. He's catholic. I personally would love a storyline where one of these times the criminal does actually die and see how his catholic guilt deals with it.

Yes but so would Elektra. And you can make similar points about many other action stars.
The point here is to make Matt relate-able in some way (i.e. he looks "normal") and also that his fighting skill, powers and that Murdoch "will" are enough to bring him up a level or two.
This isn't the WWE were every single character needs to be a genetic freak (with props to Scott Steiner). They want to have a diverse set of characters/heroes.
I'm pretty sure Cox weighs more than 150lb but yeah, IRL he'd get creamed of course. But in-story he's a the tough son of a boxer (who himself was a marvel that he never got knocked out even when he lost) who has powers and has been trained in martial arts (the poster boy of fighting styles for little guys) since he was 10 years old.
So it really shouldn't shock anyone that he's able to hang with bigger opponents. And I think the show does an amazing job of showing him take his lumps too. He very rarely leaves a fight without a scratch. Quite the opposite in fact. Most fights he looks like he's getting destroyed only to muster up some courage or will to mount a comeback.
Ironically, this is almost the exact formula WWE tries to use: Have a relate-able "face" that people like, give him a super huge opponent, have him get his ass whooped for a few minutes then suddenly our hero mounts an improbable comeback!

Great response. But him taking the lumps is kind of what I'm talking about. He takes a lot of strikes. Yeah he's a tough guy but from a bigger man those strikes would be all but fatal. I wouldn't want him to be huge. There was just a scene where he's wearing a very tight business suit, a lot of them actually, and he looks so slight. It looks like the wind would blow him over. I like the show and he does a good job otherwise. Again, thanks for your response. I appreciated it.
