One of the most fascinating experiences of my life!
6 years ago I was at an all time low. I had experienced something (for me) truly traumatic ... which in turn caused racing thoughts, anxiety and lack of sleep.
This one particular day I had gotten some really bad news and I was more upset than usual ...
... I went to sleep and suddenly opened my eyes again. At first I didn't take any notice since I usually woke up a few times at night. The problem was that I couldn't move an inch. Imagine the feeling when you wake up with a numb arm. And the tingling sensation you get! Not a single part of my body I could move. A feeling of helplessness and despair sets in. I started screaming, convincing myself ..."this is real", "this is not a dream". You desperately try to find a logical explanation just to cope with the situation. Then suddenly I could see the walls in the room "moving". I could barely focus my eyes, let alone move them ...but there was clearly something crawling in the corner of my eyes. I couldn't make out if there were crabs or spiders but there were a bunch of them. So clearly this was a dream after all - OR? ...but so lucid! After that ...still not being able to move my head I had a haunting feeling that someone was staring at me, standing next to me. Almost like a Grudge moment. I tried with all my strength to move my head sideways to have a look. It took forever. Suddenly I "managed" to move my head ...only to staring at an oncoming train! It was just so far away that you could grasp fact that you really can't move out of the way ... that this is how you die! I screamed. And blinked. I believe that the weight of my head turned over to the left, tipped me out of bed in a tumble drier rag doll movement - landing on the carpet. I could move again. I blinked again and found myself in bed as if nothing had happened. But still heavy - when I noticed my sheets moving. I slowly lifted the sheets to find a leg with socks sticking into my face. It looked artificial. It was placed in an awkward position and really couldn't be attached since I couldn't see the rest of the body. But the toes were moving. Creepy! I lifted the sheets to see who it was and at the same time shouting my brothers name since I obviously thought it was his leg or him fooling around!
This is really a "run to your mom scared" moment. I was 32 at the time. I woke up just calling everybody I knew and talked about this many weeks afterward. No one knew exactly what to make of it other than I was probably dreaming. Had a hard time convincing people! But after watching a documentary on NatGeo It all became clear. It was SP. This was just a small segment on UFO's and abduction. Where SP was on of the explanations why some believe they have been abducted. When you go into REM sleep your brain automatically disables your body so that you don't act out your dreams. A defense mechanism. If you somehow wake up in REM, your brain is still "disconnected" from your body. This also causes hallucinations.
I've experienced it once - and I actually hope that more people have that one experience in their lifetime:) No ghosts or evil presence in my book or any other bs. Just pressed pause 5 min into the documentary but got goosebumps. The first description was just too similar to my own experience. Sorry for my bad english
