I watched the first 10 mins the way the visualize the stuff might not be beneficial to dealing with this crap. Kept getting chills/shivers for the whole 10 mins, as it reminded me of the feeling.

I actually think they did a really, really good job at representing how nightmares/sleep paralysis can feel, and the way they created the shadow people was really well done and felt genuine.
I admit that after watching this last night, I could not and didn't dare fall asleep until like 4 in the morning.
For someone who has experienced some pretty intense recent nightmares this just kind of put me on the edge.
I have sleep paralysis soon times too, so watching this movie might be a really bad idea. I watched "the Shadow People" (I believe it was called) with a similar premise and the very next morning while it was still dark out I woke up paralyzed. Very disturbing.

As someone who has experienced deep sleep paralysis on off for almost 30 years, it was comforting to know that other people share my horrors, and as a result: That I am NOT crazy. Admittedly uncomfortable at times, I however found myself screaming at my computer "That's me" over and over again at numerous revelations through the film. If anything not only did it comfort me to know that I was not alone, but it also helped my Wife understand my experiences to better help me through it. Just my two cents. And no i did not experience sleep paralysis the night of watching, and interestingly nor have i since, touch wood.
I just started watching this around 1AM thinking it would be fascinating to watch as I relax in the late evening, as I've experienced intermittent sleep paralysis throughout most of my life and have experienced many of the phenomenons described in the film (especially the "shadow people") However, I think I completely underestimated this film and the lengths they went to simulate the terrifying and disturbing visuals that we experience. I had no idea the atmosphere of the documentary would be so chilling and the visuals alongside the testimonies so eerie and realistic.
I am actually feeling very disturbed and anxious right now and starting to regret putting this on.. I just got to the part where the guy is describing the "dick claw" machine thing that he hallucinated in one of his paralysis episodes, and it's genuinely got me terrified. I should have at least saved this one for day time lol.

I experienced it a few times in my life. aspects from the film familiar to my experience were the static colored hominid shapes tickling me, not with those stupid faces in the film either, I was a toddler, they felt ominous, my parents said I was laughing, I don't remember them tickling me but I recall hoping they wouldn't keep coming back, they were intimidatingly huge. I tried to explain it to my mom & she said they were friendly & they never came back.
As a young boy I woke in a lifeless "nothingness" state of mind for about 30 minutes & remember wanting to cry but I couldn't. feelings of despair thinking I may have passed on & trapped like that forever.
My worst experience was the most powerful as a young man. it consisted with being awoken by a weird tapping on my foot that made a clicking noise, realizing I couldn't move to investigate what was tapping me, it started. first there were many whispers, then voice of demons speaking in an ancient language, some echoing far away. the impression i was in a hellish limbo, shadows moving in the corner of my eyes. the second they can smell my fear, latin demon voices getting louder & closer & they're threatening me, they scream so loud I finally come to my senses absolutely terrified with the presence something is very close to me even though I'm back in the real world & I can move again, I curled up afraid to go back to sleep, not wanting to move. It felt very spiritual. as an atheist not knowing what SP was at the time it was absolutely terrifying & the scariest thing i've ever experienced.
