What a sad life

This docu just solidifies what I always felt about this poor guy. What a tough time.

I don't think he ever had anyone in his life who really loved him, that breaks my heart.

I read on the internet that he earned around 18 million total for his work on Diff'rent Strokes and after the show was over and he turned 18, he had 220 thousand to his name. Unbelievable.... his parents should have been arrested for that.

Although, from what I understand, he was not a very charming fellow as he got older. The show created a caricature of him that didn't really exist.

That being said, I wouldn't exactly say his life was sad, not very many people achieve the kind of fame he did but anyone could see that his acting career was not gonna go anywhere after Diff'rent Strokes. His parents should have made sure he had plenty of money to live on for the rest of his life.

I probably won't watch this doc, I know the story but it just goes to show that young actors need to be protected from everyone, including their own parents.

Haven't checked it out yet, but I've always known that guy was a major-league manipulator, even as a kid. As a child actor he knew how to pull everyone's heart strings, but when he got really popular he used to throw tantrums and shut down the productions if he didn't get what he wanted. I feel like being an adult and not having that any more turned him into even MORE of a dick.
