The plot didnt make any sense.

Its a huge plot hole that she wasnt really a witch, just an innocent victim.

First, the Puritans of New England did not use magic sigils nor perfomed rituals. These things were considered demonic and were performed only by warlocks and witches.

Second, the Puritans of New England did not burn witches. They hanged them.

Third, is it more probable that the Puritans had the power to transform a simple innocent girl through a magic ritual into a immortal zombie with supernatural powers that could restore its flesh by sucking the life force of others than witches actually existing? Makes no sense.

Fourth, if the corpse didnt want to feel all this torture again, why didnt she create a hallucination before they started opening her?

Fifth, if she was burned and was able to restore her body, why didnt the sigils fade away with the new skin?

In general, it was an ok horror/thriller movie. When they first said she was a witch, I found it pretty cool. But when they revealed that she was just a poor innocent girl, I started laughing and ruined the whole experience for me.

I agree. How did they cut her insides? They must have cut her on the outside but she was only able to restore her skin? Also they burned her, her lungs were charred, but nothing on the outside.
You're asking "why didn't the marks go away?" well, NOTHING done to her has gone away. The broken ankles, etc. But she was looking fine on the outside, except the eyes. Which can count as on the inside of eyelids/skin.
So if she could revert everything back to normal why didn't she close her eyes too?

What are the lenghts of her healing powers? She can't heal inside, so how did she heal her ribs, and other stuff done her on the autopsy?

If we say "she can heal what happened to her AFTER she died but NOT during her torture whileshe was alive" How tf she could repair the skin?

Uhhh so many holes.

Also, she reverted everything back to "normal" right? Then WHYYY didn't she erase the chalkboard and destroy the pictures? We can still see her autopsy pictures on the board.

And why the hell those stupid cops didn't see those things on the boards? "hmm she looks fine and those things on the board must be irrelevant. welp, take her over to VCU let Ward Lamon deal with her" wtf? what does that even mean?

This thing was a stupid waste of time with nothing logical in it. This doesn't deserve a star rating more than 5. There are many good horror films with a good plot but are underrated.

Why is this piece of s got overrated?

Exactly! Couldnt agree more..

Because she is getting better each time she kills people. She healed her lungs, ankles etc with the dad. With new victims, she will be healed more and get one step closer to be alive again.

reply

Make sense probably she was skull and bones when they dug her up in the first house they found her. Maybe after killing those people she manage to restore herself to be flesh and skin.

reply

Exactly! 👍🏻

reply

The reason she's healing herself from outside to inside because she's HAWT HAWT HAWT actress that people could go crazy over while she lay there motionless )))

reply

Totally agree, zero sense. I think the director should've made a horror comedy instead, which would've forgiven the absurd plot a bit more.

1.) It's not a plothole. It's the old man's explanation. Not fact. The fact is she was a witch.

2-3.) Correct, but since there were no witches and this is fake, it's not a plothole. It's an alternate history.

4.) They had to open her to remove the binding agents like the flower and fabric.

5.) They didn't burn her until after they did that, making her more powerful.

Well stated.

Love it when people yell "plothole!" while they just didn't pay enough attention.
She was no witch, at first, yes.
However, the ritual performed on her turned her into one.
Tommy (Cox) comes to this conclusion later in the movie.

Pay more attention next time.

Yes I love it when people say that a movie has so many plot holes, yet when you explain it to them they're like "oh yeah that makes sense." This movie made perfect sense (in the plot line anyway).

Literary license, things that don't make sense to you, and unanswered questions you might have and are too lazy to think about are not plot holes.

Also, just because a single character decides that she wasn't a witch because witches don't exist so they must have turned her into a witch doesn't mean he was right. Maybe he was wrong. OMG, another plot hole, a character was wrong.
