in the van while the cop is transporting her to the next location out of the county, the cop says something about only being a one time thing to her calling her baby and something about her problems. to me that insinuates he may have sexually violated her corpse in some weird way and then she is preparing to kill him and rightfully so for his vile act against her corpse.

Uhh, I think you missed the part that he was wearing a wireless ear thing (forget their name, does anyone use those anymore?), but to me it said he was just having a conversation with his girlfriend and was apologizing to her for something he did. But I can see that scene can be very misconstrued if you dont pay attention to it. And actually that would be typical in horror movies, the perv morgue or hospital staff using the bodies for "fun" ;p

Do people ever bother to confirm their suspicions before just flying off the deep end? Like, if you'd simply watched that part more than once with even the slightest bit of attention, you'd know he wasn't talking to the corpse. Did you hear that line from the bathroom or something and assume?

No, I don't blame the OP, because the scene wasn't shot well. When he says "baby, it's a one time thing", he looks back at the corpse and smiles as he says it - while driving. Why do that?
What I would've done (doesn't take much change) is just show a close-up of his face talking with a bluetooth earpiece. The way they shot it makes the earpiece hard to see, and him looking back at the corpse creates more ambiguity that doesn't need to be there. It's not that my mind is twisted and always goes there (the movie is plenty twisted enough with skinning and horrific imagery), but they don't make it clear enough to the casual observer.
