The end? Spoiler ish

I love how the end leaves you to make your own conclusion or aftermath. I feel like you have the happy ending where the love he had was too strong for the drug that he was able to over come it. Or a sad ending where he tries to get his feelings back but he's absolutely unable to.

I saw it as Silas's love was incredibly strong for Nia, so that love was stronger than the drug.

i had a sad sinking feeling the ending was going to have either Silas or Nia die but i'm so relieved it ended on a hopeful/happy-ish note. i view it as Silas's love for Nia was so strong as well as possibly the drug in general didn't "cure" him/anyone completely yet.. sometimes (in real life) a new drug has to go through stages/alterations before it's 100% effective. maybe that's part of it with Silas. either way i loved the more uplifting/hopeful ending.

There's a short scene in the train where you actually see Silas grin for a short while. And taking her hand is also an emotional sign.

So I'll stick with the happy ending.

I must have missed the grin. I'm sure it was very subtle. Will have to go back and rewatch the end again.

For me it was a good ending. I feel like it touches upon the question of long term relationships, where love, passion and emotions go along with work. Being together requires effort and patience and the ending seems to show that both are ready to go the way. I was quite relieved that nobody died , it would have been tragic but not as fulfilling.

I think that's exactly the point the film was trying to make. Silas is depending entirely on memories, not on present feelings, to sustain the relationship. He's part of the relationship because of his resolve to stay with it, not out of emotional impulses. His former emotions laid the groundwork, but now he's acting on faith. It's not either a happy or sad ending, but a nice one.
