Goldberg?

Is he completely exonerated? Would like to know the percentage of interest he had in Nirvana and KC at time of death and what his residuals have been. I do not trust rock band managers, you just need to look back at people like Col Tom or Mike Jeffrey and all the acts ripped off. No doubt Love had most to lose given the impending divorce and pre nup but it would not surprise me if she was part of a larger conspiracy that included others who also stood to benefit. I'm reminded of the Faces album, A nod's as good as a wink.

reply

Absolutely no evidence of a vast conspiracy involving management.

Hmmm

I don't think there was a conspiracy on their part, but I think Goldberg/management's angle was that Kurt was their cash cow and couldn't lose him. The fact that Kurt turned down Lollapalooza and wanted to quit the business scared the crap out of them. So, they blamed heroine on it all and figured if he got off heroine, he'd change his mind and get right back on stage and make more Nirvana albums for them. It goes to show how out of touch they truly were with him.

Courtney, on the other hand, had more at stake being that he wanted to divorce her and write her out of his will.

The management definitely stood to lose a lot of cash by him breaking up Nirvana. With this in mind, and without making any accusation, the question is was a KC outwith their reach worth more alive or dead to them? Knocking back gigs like Palooza and $9m must have been painful. I assume they were on 20% of all income, maybe more.

He's written a book and mentions Kurt. He seems pretty devastated but I know he said a speech at Kurt's funeral that didn't go down well at all.

reply

Hi, what did he say at the funeral?

reply

I don't know exactly but it was apparently quite mawkish about how he was now an angel and mentioned how he would do things for Danny that he didn't want to do. It didn't represent Kurt I think and it wasn't the 'real' Kurt.
