A decade later rewatch

Still enjoy this movie and its unknown time period and creature origin story. The only issue I would have is they say the creature only walks slow, doesn’t run, and that should buy them time. So per the Google lords, it takes 6-8 months to walk across the U.S.

Obviously if this thing doesn’t need to eat and keeps on walking non-stop, you’d still have a couple months before it could catch up. So really just drive across country every two months. Maybe the thing will figure it out but seems plausible at least.

I haven't rewatched it recently but I absolutely love the synthesizer heavy score. It feels dream like. I know the sequel is in the works and I hope they bring back the same composer.

It's not the speed, it's the relentlessness. As you say, it just keeps on going non-stop, and it takes the most direct routes possible (no trespass/unlawful entry considerations!). Also, if you don't know where it is, when you decide it's time to go on the move again you could actually be heading nearer to it without knowing.

But... you said yourself it takes the most direct route possible, which I agree on. That means you technically always know where it is, at least the general direction. So... just go another way? The USA is big. Also, what would happen if one takes a plane to Australia? Would "it" walk through the ocean and walk for years... or invisibly board a plane?
What if that plane crashes? xD

The horror swiftly fades when you think about it a bit.

True, although at some point you'd run out of land and either have to head back towards it or go off at a tangent. You wouldn't know exactly how far it was along it's intended path when you did that, so you wouldn't know how near it was to you and therefore what angle it'd be coming from to get to your new location. Flying to another country would be a good one. Would it walk along the bottom of the ocean? That would be a damn creepy visual! What if it met a Great White? That should be the sequel (like the zombie/shark fight in Zombi 2/Zombie Flesh Eaters)!

Wow. A decade!? That went by fast.. I guess I'll give it a rewatch now that I know it's been that long, and I just found out about the sequel. Saw this in the theater twice, I remember absolutely loving it

I was surprised by how good a job they did on this back when it came out. I still holds up well IMO (apart from the last part).

It's a really great film. I'll prolly have to watch it again sometime soon.
