Season 2 Episode 11

A lot happened in this episode.

We finally catch a glimpse of what's going on Venus. Protomolecule is building some sort of structures around the impact crater.

On Earth, Bobbie discovers that her team was a victim of weapon tests that Martians wanted to buy from Mao's company, but is told again to "keep her mouth shut". She refuses and defects to UN where she tells everything she knows to Avasarala. Mao wants to meet with Avasarala, no doubt to try to sell UN the protomolecule weapons as well.

On Ganymede, Rocinante crew discovers what's behind closed doors. Tunnels that lead to the old Station. Horrible things are going on in the old Station... scientists are converting kids into aliens and God knows what else. Roci crew blows the whole place up.

One thing I didn't understand is was that Mei in the cryogenic chamber or some other kid? Is Mei still alive?

reply

Undecided about Mei. That was not made clear yet. I'm thinking something good will result on this one.

reply

Not for Mei, cause if it was her in the cryogenic chamber, she's a goner now. But I hope it wasn't her cause of something the lady scientist said: "we are turning protomolecule into our own image". So, those might not be the converted children after all, but the protomolecule alone. I hope that children were there for some other purpose, like a blueprint or something.

reply

I do not believe that was Mei, but I don't know where she is. I feel very strongly that she has not been infected yet, or maybe I'm just hopeful.

Btw, Sgt Draper was awesome kicking that Captain's butt and getting that info to give to UN.
So now we know what happened at Ganymede and why? And we got our first glimpse of what the Eros protomolecule is doing to Venus.

reply

Sgt Draper kicking the Captain's butt was as satisfying revenge moment as Drummer shooting those two guys on the Tycho station. And for once, believable. Cause she's a marine, training at 1G and therefore IS stronger than most male martians. (except for marines)

The spookiest moment for me was the alien looking at them from the outside. I was worried about poor Alex being so exposed on the wrong side of the door. But we saw that door is no obstacle for an alien, so everyone was in danger. It was pure luck that alien decided not to attack but mind his own business.

reply

Just to be sure, did the grenade free the protomolecule from that compartment that
Allowed for it to kill all those scientists and army personnel?

What does Holden think he will be able to do to that photo monster when he finds it?

The dying girl said there are many more out there, so I wonder why Holden is so caught up in finding this one.

If I may, I have one more question: when the protomolecule was given to the entire inhabitants of Eros without control, did the entire rock become a protomolecule because there were so many people infected?

I'm still not clear what the heck this protomolecule is and can do. Any thoughts you have will be appreciated. Thanks.

reply

I think that the grenade somehow agitated the protomolecule alien, he freaked out and escaped. I don't think that Holden even knew that alien existed until he saw it looking at them from the outside.

This is puzzling to me as well... maybe someone who has read the books can explain it a bit more (without too many spoilers if possible).
