That is pretty huge news, and will hopefully give the series a solid boost. As for season 3, i dont think they they will give us any information about that yet, its still a couple of months until season 2 premieres :)

Yes this is huge news considering season 2 hasn't even aired yet, Must of missed a few digits on link as doing it via my phone

Do you think season 3 should be the last one or maybe a season 4 if they make one

Oh to be fair not hard to just copy and paste it lol

They've written 6 books in the series, with a 7th on the way (due next year).

I've not read them, but my understanding is that season 1 was basically book 1, with some additions here and there (like Earth's perspective). If they keep to more or less the same pace going forward, they should not be running out of material anytime soon (they also have the authors of the books working with the show, which should be a big help). As long as the show keeps getting renewed, they should have at least 5 seasons worth of material, probably more.

Someone who has read the books will hopefully offer opinions as to their quality :)

I don't want them to milk the cow so to speak, I mean Walking Dead comics are way ahead of the TV show- I just can't imagine Season 23

I think Expanse material will last a few more seasons and I think 5 season should be more than enough

Where you from?

hehe, i agree with that. That is why i said that someone who has read the books could offer his/her opinion on their quality. As long as its quality writing, and they manage to translate that to the screen, im good with however many seasons they churn out. But once it turns into a soap opera, im out :p

Where you from?

Im Norwegian :)

reply

Actually season one didn't even finish the first book.

reply

It didn't oh right, How much did they use of it then?

reply

60-70 percent. To be honest I was a little confused about where they decided to end the first season.

ahh, so they didn't get all the way through the first book for season 1. It seemed a good place to stop (the major players revealed, mystery unfolding with that goo, the Rocinante about to embark on an "investigation" into all of this, etc), but since i haven't read the books, i really couldn't say :)

How would you rate further books into the series (assuming you have read them of course). Just thinking of the potential longevity of the series, and what it has to lean on in terms of storytelling quality.

Well the next book is a mixed bag. I'd say it's pretty good but it also suffers from a new lead character being introduced who is frankly not very interesting. The third book is very good. One of the best ones. The new characters introduced in it are very interesting. The fourth is probably the weakest in the series. It's some great parts as well but again suffers from having several boring characters in lead POV's and a story arc for the lead character that is very drawn out and frustrating because it's an easy fix but the stubbornness of the main character keeps the bad guys in action. The fifth had mixed reviews but I thought it was one of the best in the series and has parts of the story that if the show can make it to will be absolutely amazing to watch on screen not to mention have already been heavily foreshadowed in the show already. It also reveals the mysteries behind most of the main characters backstories. At the pace they're going though I worry they won't make it to that point unless alterations are made and several things get moved around. That being said it looks like that is already what they 're doing.

reply

Thanx for the "reviews", it will be very interesting to see where they take it in season 2 then :) (the only thing i really know about it is that a new character is getting introduced, the Martian Marine Bobby *something* if i recall).

Since they have the authors on hand, i hope that they are able to "smooth out" the less interesting parts as much as possible in a seamless fashion :)

Bobbie is a good character and never really boring. She's not the one I was talking about. There's a scientist named Prax who is trying to find his daughter that I find to be boring.

ahh, i didn't mean to imply that she would be the "boring one" that you mentioned. She is a soldier, so i imagine that things will happen around her, hehe.

Hopefully this "Prax" dude will be minimal (or even omitted) from the series then, unless it is critical to the plot at large :)

No, Prax is already cast (canadian actor Terry Chen). The character is a bit on the boring side and tends to be whiny but he was essential to the plot in the 2nd book. While I overall like Calibans War, some plot points of the book feel repetitive (another missing girl, another shadow organization is doing shadowy things etc.). Hopefully the show can navigate around the weaker aspects of these novels.

(another missing girl, another shadow organization is doing shadowy things etc.)

Yeah, when TheFirstStormAndTheLast said that a dad was looking for his girl i almost asked if the twist this time was that she was kidnapped instead of running away like Julie, hehe.

A second secret organization as well though ? jeez, hehe..

It isn't just netflix. Apparently they are international, and Amazon will be streaming it in the USA:

I just thought: I don't suppose they have been filming and doing the effects in UHD (4K) resolution, have they? Might accelerate my purchase of an LG 4k OLED TV if I can stream it in 4K :-).

reply

LG 4k OLED TV

I've had my eye on that line for a while, really nice TV's.

And that has to do with- The Expanse how?
