Awesome first season
Just finished watching episode 10 and really enjoyed it. A great adaptation, although I was expecting that season one would cover the entirety of book one. Still, very enjoyable.

shareI just had a look at the book again, and see that season one barely covers 60% of it...
shareYeah I was a little confused about that myself. Not sure why they chose to go that route especially sense it seems like they slowed the show mid way through the first season.
shareIs it an awkward or strange cutoff moment book wise ? (i've not read them). From a show perspective, it made perfect sense to end the season where they did, but that is obviously because i am completely ignorant of the books :)

Let me show you the deep raw passion of unbridled sexual frenzy. But Lucy... im British
It's a positive ntbjn the book when things calm down a little, so it was a good place to end the season. I have no idea how they will manage to put the finale of the book onto the screen, though. Budget wise, that is.
shareIs it that "grand" of an event or chain of events ? Combination of mass amount of people (soldiers) and a space battle(s) or something ? Dont tell me, hehe.. just speculating out loud :)
We can hope that since they now have at least some of the sets (the Roci, Ceres, Eros, Tycho, etc, the wardrobe, most gadgets, weapons and the like, that they'll be able to devote more of next seasons budget towards special effects, extras and the like.

I bet the limiting factor was the budget, since the last 3rd of the book would translate into a couple of action-packed und vfx heavy episodes which the show in it's first season didn't had enough money to do them justice. I liked Eros as the season finale because it felt like a natural cut-off point and solved the mystery surrounding the season. But boy did the show ran out of money there in the end. They had to reuse some of the Ceres sets for Eros and had Naomi and co. running through nondescript tunnels for like 20 minutes.
shareThat is an excellent point. If the book is quite action heavy towards the end, it would make perfect sense due to budget limitations.
Thanx for the insight :)

It makes me wonder how they will possibly cover all the books...
shareYeah I just blew through the full season in one day on Netflix. View my mind how good it was. Was even more surprised to find out syfy made it.
Defo gonna have a look into the books if that's how the TV series is and people are quite happy with the adaptation.

Personally, having read the books recently (which is why I watched the series), so far, I prefer the series (I'm up to episode 5), because the characters seem more realistic, to be honest. However, the books are a perfectly good read - they're certainly page turners, so go for it.
