Has The Expanse been filmed before?

Hello all!

Just finished watching S1 on Netflix and I'm the getting the weirdest amount deja vu's almost all the time, especially in the scenes with the Chrisjen-character and some of the robotic animals you see every now and then.

It almost feels like I've seen it about three or fours years ago, which isn't possible as it was prodeuced in about 2015.

I admit we have some of the regular scifi-space cliché's, but that's not it.

Has this series been filmed before, maybe under a different name or something?

I have not read the books this series is based on, and I started subscribing to Netflix about a year and a half ago.
Note that Netflix is geolocated, and we got The Expanse just recently.

Hi there :)

As far as i know, "The Expanse" is the first time the novels move into the realm of the TV. The novels are relatively new, and the series is still being written.

As for something that looks similar to it, i dont know.. both Babylon 5 (1994) and Battlestar Galactica (2004) looks much "cleaner" and less "claustrophobic" than "The Expanse" in my opinion, those were the two series that immediately popped into my head when thinking "sci fi series".

Hi!

Truly weird...

Babylon 5 isn't quite similar IMHO, although same(ish) idea.
BSG has a different vibe altogether.

I agree that The Expanse has a grittier feeling. The universe isn't Star Trek-shiny! :-)
The Serenity/Firefly series comes to mind as a similar universe as The Expanse.

Dammit'! I can't shake this deja vu-feeling! It irritates me...

I'm thinking maybe I've seen Shohreh Aghdashloo (playing the Chrisjen character) in some other scifi-related series.

I'll let it go for now and hope for the best...

Thanks for the feedback, Placidddragon!
