If this show is not renewed...
I'm gonna start watching the French version because they are making a second season. By the time we know if this is cancelled or not, I can probably binge watch both seasons of the French version.

shareI did start watching the French version on Netflix... so I guess I'll just continue with that version too.
I wonder when we'll know if there will be a 2nd season for the American version?
Enjoy yourself. :-) But the French version changes quite a bit and leaves you with more questions than even the American one. Be prepared. A lot of them may never get answered even if the French creators have a lot of warning to wrap up the show and plan the ending meticulously.
I've got a remote and I'm not afraid to use it.
Well I'll wait to start season one as soon as they start filming season two. Then I won't have to experience a 3-year cliffhanger.
shareHaha, do you mean when they start filming Season 3? We don't even know if we'll get a Season 3! They've already started filming Season 2 though, so if that's what you were waiting for, you can start with S1.

The French series was in 2012. It's just now that they are filming S2-3 years.
shareI don't understand the point of your comment to the conversation I was having, but okay.
I've got a remote and I'm not afraid to use it.
Because the OP was talking about waiting 3 years for the 2nd season of the French series. And you were talking about having a season 3. You asked: "Do you mean when they start filming Season 3?"
shareThe OP was talking about waiting until Season 2 began filming so she wouldn't have to experience a 3 year cliffhanger. I pointed out that Season 2 had already begun filming ... unless she was waiting for Season 3 to start filming so she wouldn't have to experience a long wait between Seasons 2 and 3, in which case, we don't even know if we're getting a Season 3.

The French version did not change anything! The French series is the original one, therefore it is the American version that has changed stuff.
share I'll remember to be more careful with my phrasing in the future lest I be attacked by internet pedants. I think the OP understood what I meant to say, though.
I've got a remote and I'm not afraid to use it.
I was not "attacking" you. I was just pointing it out; if you did know and it was just your wording then fair enough. Notwithstanding, I was mainly pointing it out for the benefit of readers, who may not be so familiar with the shows and may have wrongly assumed the USA version was first, that is all.
shareOh, okay. :-]

The French version is a must watch. The actor who plays Victor is spot-on talented. 8 total episodes, too.
shareMarch 5, 2015 – The Returned‘s chances of renewal have risen with news that Netflix has partnered with A&E to give the series a global release. Additionally, it’s again been stated that the show has a multi-season plan. The landmark Netflix release will certainly help the show’s chance of reaching a wider audience, while also making The Returned a more lucrative venture. All in all, it bodes well for The Returned‘s survival.

So, does this mean that it will or won't return to A&E? If it doesn't return to A&E, then I've just wasted a season watching something that I'll never get to see the second part of.
EMOTICONS ARE BACK! YAY!
We don't know yet if it's been renewed by A&E.
shareYeah because netflix is so expensive(!)
I share my account with a friend, can wath on 2 appliances at the same time so half the costs for full experience.
Even if it only returns to Netflix, they offer a month free trial, so you could easily watch it for free once the second season is offered there.
Smart TVs, Roku boxes, and I think most recent game consoles have Netflix apps to watch on TV rather than on a computer. Also any laptop or PC with an HDMI port can be hooked up to a TV as an additional monitor.
You could always watch Resurrection. It is based on the same story concept but with a few differences. And at least it has 2 seasons to watch. I actually prefer it to The Returned, but that could be just cause I watched it first. Regardless of which came first, I liked them both but for quite different reasons.
I watched both seasons of Resurrection. I liked it better than the Returned too. And since this post is already over a year old, I'll let you all know I watched the 2 seasons of the French version. I liked the American version better. Haven't heard anything about a French season 3 and the American version was cancelled. Time to put these shows to rest, I suppose.
