It just makes perfect sense that they will want Pat to be around for a little while to terrorize the group, but that he will not be a full time character. Given his character and paranoia about the virus, the only thing that makes sense is that, either right as he is making up with the group or right as he is about to kill them, he will contract the virus and die from it. Actually, an interesting use of Mike would be for Mike to really have the virus, but still be alive. He could then happen to show up when Pat is there and infect him. It does make some sense, as it didn't seem that Mike was all that sick yet at the end of the second season.
And, I thought Mike getting the virus was a strong possibility throughout the second season.
I would be down with that. I really like the idea of Mike coming back to save Tandy. Kind of brings the characters full circle. That would be sweet, touching, and sad all at once. Mike always felt like a doomed character to me, but if things are going to go that way, I hope he gets a good ending.
As soon as Pat was hit by the van, I thought, "No way, they can't be done with him already." So yeah, while I don't see him fully integrating into the Malibu crew -- he's just too far out-there even by their nutty standards (though you'd think he and Melissa could've at least bonded over their paranoia about the virus) -- I could see the character being given an arc similar to Phil 2, where he ends up dying no sooner than the group has forgiven him.
Also, Forte recently said something about having Phil/Tandy reunite with his ball-buddies sometime this season; I'm wondering how he might pull that off without giving away anything about Mike's fate as well...

Well, we assumed that he was dead and, maybe he wasn't. So, we are assuming that he's alive and maybe he isn't. The trail of blood seems odd. First, I assume that he'd be crawling or dragging himself though the sand, but there are no marks like that, just blood.
Second, how did he get to the boat from the beach? Again, he'd be pretty banged up.
So, chances are that someone found the body, dragged it away, made a trail of sriracha sauce down to the water, and then cut the boat loose. Louis is the bad guy.

They came over in a blow up boat from the sail boat. But either way the guy got fully run over by a van, that's got to put a damper on any boating you're going to want to do. Power boat or sail. I can't see him pulling the rip cord to start the blow up boat's engine to get to the sail boat, let alone pulling an anchor and sailing away.

And, with the tide, the boat had to have been pulled way up on the beach. That's an amazing recovery for someone who was run over by a van and was breathing and unconscious a few hours earlier.

I still think Pat is dead. One of his associates probably came along, saw his boat, checked it to see if he was in it and when they saw he wasn't, they likely decided to investigate the land and found Pat's body. It explains why we saw a trail of footprints that looks like the person didn't struggle to get anywhere.
